Re: lucas to bosch fuel pump change. anyone please??
If the pump's from a 406, they, (at least the later ones), have some electronic gizmos and an ecu - though whether that's integral with the pump.or elsewhere, I don't know. (Someone else may be able to explain better).
The conversion you've done, or Bosch pump onto 2.1 TD, (which we all thought you meant), is fairly common, but most people use an older spec Bosch pump, from a 405, or early Xantia.
Do you know if the stop solenoid's working, have you got fuel at the injectors?

ive just loosened off the fuel lines and diesel came out under pressure, so i assume its getting to the injectors?
Re: lucas to bosch fuel pump change. anyone please??
ive just been told that if ive got air in the fuel lines it wont run. is that my school boy error?

You'll need to move the pump up/down to get the timing right, its trial and error unfortuanately.

If it is, and the IP is non ecu controlled, then loosening the bolts on pump and moving it up/down changes the timing.jamjar1383 wrote:are u sure the cam and crank timing are spot on???
You need to get it so engine starts, then slightly loosen bolts and move it and listen to get the right timing, engine noise should tell you when its right.

Immobiliser, you might have to put a live/ignition live 12v feed to the stop solenoid.blake wrote:hi, ive tried turning it over with fuel lines not connected and there is no fuel coming out at all. do i need to look at the fuel solenoid then? im not sure what that does.

According to this http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/for ... p?tid=3233 it's the one in the blue circle. Looks like another useful thread to read (apart from the bit where he knackers his engine... )
