How the hell has that engine been ripped out of that Mond. Possible future problem for new model Mondeo's. Weak engine mounts :supafrisk:

There are all sorts, I'm just picking out the "my car's totally destroyed yet I still feel it's worth a small fortune" ones. Attention seeking? No. Awful drivers? Could be.

I just found this (it's a PDF I'm afraid). Look who's 6th from the top, look who's 5th from the bottom. And where's Italy? Nowhere  Strangely, it's calculated per million of the population but there are far fewer cars per head here than there are back in the UK. It would be more interesting if it was done per vehicle on the roa... no, they can't do that because a great many cars here are obviously unregistered :frown:

Actually I'm getting more nervous, I keep thinking all the time that I've missed something and some speeding dickhead is going to slam into my car at any moment

youd need to be mad to pay that price for a non crashed x1 especially since nissan make the xtrail which is better, and the freelander is better, and the panda 4x4 is better the x3 is as useful as the brown centre bit of card in the toilet roll on its own.

This was just on the news:

"Car Ace Ćolak Left the Road and Killed the Front-Seat Passenger Because of Racing?!"
Image

"Racing Ace Marin Čolak is seriously injured, and his 20 year old female co-driver killed (I. O. means she's not being named I guess) in a traffic accident about 12.15 on the A6, near the Bosiljevo junction in the direction of Rijeka. At the moment of the accident Čolak lost control of his Ferrari and left the road. Čolaku received medical attention at the scene, after which he was taken to the district hospital in Karlovac.

Čolak, who wasn't wearing a setbelt, fell out of the vehicle. His passenger was wearing a safety belt and was traped in the burning car."

Karlovac is just down the road here. My wife's been helping me translate some of it and I didn't realise what happened until I'd finished - that's terrible, don't wear a seat belt and live, wear one and get burned to death?

It then goes on to say they don't know what happened but the speculation is he came into contact with a Nissan :(

The rest is a bit about his racing career.

Thats a sad bit of news. But the italians dont ware seatbelts because they think its unlucky as it means you expect to have an accident

When I was 18 I tore a Morris Marina in half, this was just as they were bring in the seatbelt law ("clunk, click, every trip, how's about that then etc.") and my insurers were a bit sniffy that I hadn't been wearing one, until they got the police report that said if I'd been wearing it I'd be dead. The mountings went with the back half of the car...

Still, personally I think a seatbelt is more likely to save your life than take it.

Btw I just noticed this "Nissan" they think he might have come into contact with - it's the first picture in the slideshow, it's a Z that looks ever so slightly modified. If he wasn't racing then I'm a banana.

Those tyres don't look particularly 'grippy' :supafrisk:

Still, look on the bright side, they'll have that car back on the road in no time

Did you click the link? That was the girl who was killed :(

And yesterday
Image
Apparently that was a Laguna once, they were rushing to a wedding party on the island of Krk doing over 160kmh (that's a ton in old money), lost it on the bend, clipped the kerb, flipped on their roof and hit the armco. The groom was thrown out & is in hospital, his best man was thrown out and killed and the driver, the only one wearing a seatbelt, is in critical condition.

I'm starting to change my mind about wearing a seatbelt :frown:
