Connecting 2 amps to 1 power cable

Post by jason1987 »

im going to be having an amp for my sub and an amp for my front components, so ill be using a 4 gauge wiring kit for the sub amp, and then i need a distribution block to split the power into 2 amps, but which block do i need? some have fuses on and some dont, i was thinking this was the one i need? http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/stinger-shd20.html

as its 4 gauge in and 2x 4 gauge out, ive got the rca leads from my old system so id just need an extra bit of power cable, earth cable, and remote turn on wire, but where do i get these from? i only need a little bit

dont know about this sort of thing but i think its allways a good idea to have a fuse in a power circuit.

You want a fused block so each amp has a seperate fuse, and you will probably want a 4gauge in and 2 x 8gauge out. It may also be worth looking at a ground wire distribution block too. You will also need a seperate fuse block at the front of the car, ideally within 12" of the battery and the fuse in this will be the total of the 2 fuses in the back, i.e. 2 x 30A fuses in the back means a 60A fuse in the front. I've got a 150A fuse in the front of the 309.

You will get the extra bits of wire from any car audio place for a few quid a meter or even from Halfords as I know they used to do it. Not too sure anymore since they were bought out by the AA their product range is dropping all the time.
