I gradually changed the entire lot apart from the water pump which was fairly new.
Main culprits were; radiator - like swiss cheese, top and bottom hoses, and the not so obvious; the thermostat seal which had perished away to virtually nothing.
I only found it after I'd changed all the other parts and had put in red antifreeze which left a nice tell tale stain under the thermostat housing! I changed the 'stat as well for good measure although I think the old one was perfectly fine to be honest.

You can get the seal from any motor factors or a dealers, they only cost £2 or so.
From memory the 'stat can only fit in one way, so you'll be ok there :)

ARGH!!! I saw that top picture and it was like insta-flashback to a nightmare!

Took me over an hour in the freezing cold to get the old 'stat out of my tubby because the seal needed chiselling out...

Make it during the Easter holibobs and I'll make the effort to attend. Assuming I can get permission from the higher-ups, of course. By which I mean my wife.

We can have a 'noisiest 406' tourney, so I can bet on myself and make a stack of money :)
