Here's the meeting place folks...

Image

Image

From the South
  • - Get off the M4 at J23, head north on the A470 (signposted Merthyr Tydfil)
    - Stay on A470 approx 12 miles to the next roundabout, straight on, 2nd exit
    - Stay on A470 approx 6 miles to the next roundabout, straight on, 2nd exit
    - At the next roundabout, straight on, 2nd exit
    - At the next roundabout, turn right, 3rd exit
    - At the next roundabout, straight on, 2nd exit
    - At the traffic lights, turn left
    - Follow the road around, it goes sharply to the right, then left, then right again up to a mini roundabout
    - At the mini roundabout turn left, 1st exit, then immediately right in through the gates of the park
    - Proceed up the drive of the park, bear left where the driveway splits, then turn right onto the castle forecourt.
    - Look for other 406's, park next to them, get out and say hello 8)
Approx 20 mins from the M4

From the Midlands
  • - The best way is to take the M50 from J8 of the M5
    - After the M50 ends at Ross-on-Wye take the A40 towards Monmouth
    - A few miles after Monmouth you need to get off the dual carriageway, the junction is signposted Abergavenny (the road number is still the A40 - the one you just got off turns into the A449 at this point :? )
    - At Abergavenny there's a double roundabout thing, you want the A465 westbound signed Merthyr Tydfil (IIRC it's 1st exit then 2nd exit)
    - Stay on the A465, there's loads of roundabouts, I aint going to try to count them, it'll only cause confusion. Be aware that at the top of the big hill through the rock cutting, the main road actually takes a 90 right, 3rd exit at the roundabout.
    - When you get to Merthyr (after the nice new dual carriageway bit) theres another silly roundabout arrangement. You need to turn right (2nd exit) at the first one, then take the 2nd exit (bearing leftish) at the second one. You're still on the A465.
    - Couple of miles downhill to the next roundabout, turn left, 1st exit. You're now on the A470 heading south
    - At the next roundabout, turn left, 1st exit
    - At the next roundabout, straight on, 2nd exit
    - At the traffic lights, turn left
    - Follow the road around, it goes sharply to the right, then left, then right again up to a mini roundabout
    - At the mini roundabout turn left, 1st exit, then immediately right in through the gates of the park
    - Proceed up the drive of the park, bear left where the driveway splits, then turn right onto the castle forecourt.
    - Look for other 406's, park next to them, get out and say hello 8)
Approx 85 mins from the M5
