Blinkingheck looking at the forecast I'm kinda glad we have cancelled our holiday.
You lot want to be careful out there tomorrow the wind and rain looks wicked... And don't forget what most of you are driving... Stay safe.

I don't see 406 squadron being grounded by a gentle breeze and a few spots of rain.

The problem is that the site we were booked on is right on the coast and we really need the awning up for the dogs etc,i've had more than my fair share of sleepless nights with gales and the awning collapsing on one occasion, the winds they are forcasting where we were going are enough to upturn a caravan.scotty73 wrote:Blinkingheck looking at the forecast I'm kinda glad we have cancelled our holiday.

Weather warnings aren't while Monday. Even so the Met Office will put out a weather warning for owt -- I'm sure they just do it for fun when they're a bit bored on a slack day.

Now, dare I set off with less than half a tank of diesel? I would have in the 406 and not given it a second thought!

It is no fun mate I'd have to do the same so maybe us having to cancel is a good thing, it's forecast quite shite up until Wednesday and 40/50mph gusts while towing with buttocks clenched is not an ideal start to a holiday.grasmere59 wrote:The problem is that the site we were booked on is right on the coast and we really need the awning up for the dogs etc,i've had more than my fair share of sleepless nights with gales and the awning collapsing on one occasion, the winds they are forcasting where we were going are enough to upturn a caravan.scotty73 wrote:Blinkingheck looking at the forecast I'm kinda glad we have cancelled our holiday.

You'll be most welcome if you manage to get along
I too have done the caravan thing in a storm with a resulting damaged awning

Hmm. 66 litres, probably good for about 600 miles typically?rwb wrote:Now, dare I set off with less than half a tank of diesel? I would have in the 406 and not given it a second thought!
10% more engine, 90% more horses and about 12% less fuel tank has to add up to a bit less range.
Which route are you taking, Rich?

Indeed one of my colleagues pointed out that I've swapped fuel efficiency for time efficiency.
Nearly twice as many horses and over two-thirds of the MPG does mean that it is more fuel efficient!
I'll be coming up the M5 (there's a really cheap Esso station on the A419 just north of Swindon).
Are you on the M6?

Just calling in to confirm I shall not be attending this meet (have my kiddos) and I hope you all have a lovely time tomorrow, can't wait to see the photos of the meets, and as per Haynes, get a group photo.
Seems weird now that Jasper won't be bringing a 407 and will be bringing a 406, yet rwb is NOT bringing his 406 and bringing a 407 You guys like your happy medium don't ya
Wish you all the very very best

Have a good day chaps, I hope the weather is kind to you.
I am heading to Newquay tomorrow, me, the missus, 2 kids and the Mum-in-Law plus a roofbox - judging by the forecast I had better unplug my air-intake.....
Maybe see you all at the next meet up.
