Wanted ECU/BSI/gauges/key set

Post by WillNZ »

As above but for an early HDi where the ECU is a single plug. My DAM is 8695 so built Aug 2000. Car is manual.

My existing part numbers are as follows:
ECU - 0281010248
BSI - 9640091380/00 B4
Gauge cluster - 9639940380 This is a km cluster, I think the UK one in miles ends with 370? I dont care if the one I get is in miles, not kms.
I want everything to come from the same car, that way it should work according to a very knowledgeable bloke over here.

Would like an ECU that has been upgraded if possible, dont care if the security code has been deleted. Or if someone has an upgrade file I can flash over.

Obviously I would also need it shipped to New Zealand so bear this in mind.

Did you get any response?

Is this for your 999999km HDI that you can no longer drive because it won't count further, while the law in NZ requires a working odometer?

You only need the odometer to satisfy road tax regulations, isn't it?

Thinking out of the box: would installing a separate odometer fulfill the regulations? i.e. a separate counter that you could install next to or below the dashboard?

What about installing a GPStracker, would that do? Is the odometer required to be "certified" in any way?

Indeed, as you say, changing the mileage requires modifying the content of two EEPROM chips, one in the BSI box and one in the instrument cluster. Here is an example I found: https://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/s ... correction . They set the mileage in the BSI box to 0 and set the mileage in the instrument cluster to the desired value. Which would be also 0, in your case. At next power-up, the system takes the highest of the two (the one in the instrument cluster, in this case) and stores that in the other (the BSI box). The values are not encrypted, but they are also not the real km (or mile) values. There is some conversion algorithm involved. This software seems to support your 406 and contain the conversion algorithm for it.

Just another question: did you really drive all those 999.999 kms? Or was this a result of an electronic glitch that caused the odometer to jump to this value?
