406 3.0 manual estate 194bhp one owner £500!

Post by pondweed »

"Forest Green metallic, One owner from new, Regularly serviced, Cam belt changed at 152k. MOT until April '08. Recently had new rear suspension, front springs. Silky smooth powerful V6 petrol, manual. Lovely motorway cruiser & load lugger. This car has the SAME ENGINE AS THE V6 COUPE!! 194bhp, 0-62 in 7.5 seconds. Climate control, factory sun roof, 6cd autochanger, tinted windows. Alloys not perfect but good. Peugeot towbar (never used)
Unfortunately I think the clutch is on its way out. It is a £500 job so I have reduced the price from £1195 to £500. Anyone prepared to do the necessary will get a great car for a grand. It is the car's original clutch, so you can tell it has been carefully driven."
It's a 1998 car and the photos I have seen look really good/obviously well maintained and cared for.
pm me for owners details. Sussex/Hants borders.

... and an aging car that needs a new engine mounting, new bonnet, £300 for a new cambelt (stupid stupid bolt), new radiator fan, a new "swivel joint" whatever that is on the steering stuff, new tyres all round, and then still is at risk of not getting through the MOT in Feb due to the lack of a centre rear seatbelt and the difficulty of being able to fit a new one (stupid stupid bolt)...

I'm getting very very tempted to call it a day with this car and get another one, although my current one has been sooooo good to me I'm really quite attached to it. And I LOVE the XU10J2TE :)

Going to drop by the MOT place in the next few days though. See what the tester makes of the seatbelt situation

I did see a D8 v6 estate going a couple of months ago i'd have bought straight away if i had the £300 he wanted for it. Same colour as mine but the drivers door was seriously smashed up due to a collision. Quick swap of door+interior later and I'd have been laughing. Ah well...

I think your right TBH, your turbo has probably come to the end of it's useful life.

You might aswell run a V6 for short journeys anyway and I think you will enjoy the smoothness, the grunt, the sound, a lot more.
