Basically its in great condition but the windscreen is cracked and it has dropped a gear (5th).
I bought this car in 2016 with less than 20k miles on the clock. The trader had purchased it from the family of an elderly lady who had hardly used it, and she had done fewer and fewer miles each year. I have used it since then, doing less than 10k mostly motorway miles / year, MOT & servicing it locally each year. The paperwork / MOT history backs this up.
Its a great car. Lovely to drive; smooth, quiet and comfortable. Very solid, no sqeaks or rattles. I'd have been very happy to keep it, but..
Recently, a stone hit the windscreen on the motorway, leaving a chip. Then one morning soon after I was scraping snow from the windscreen, with the heater on, and I guess the heat on the inside and the cold on the outside combined with the chip caused it to crack right across. I planned to get it sorted at the next MOT; my garage reckoned about £200 for a replacement.
Then a few weeks later it just lost power suddenly on the motorway. I pulled over but everything seemed fine; temp OK, engine sound OK, nothing leaking -so I set off again. It was fine until I moved into 5th gear, which may as well have been neutral. I continued my journey in 4th. It actually runs happily upto about 70mph in 4th, but anything after that is a bit noisy and you'd really want to change up. A gearbox place quoted me £430 to fix it.
Other faults are some very minor dings on the bonnet and roof. There is a small patch of surface rust on the NSF wing, but its only cosmetic really. The remote control central locking doesn't work very well. It seems to open when you press the button down and close again when you take your thumb off the button. I just used the physical key and never had any problems. There are two working keys, but one has the RC buttons missing.
When I first bought it it had the stalling / starter motor wiring issue common to this model. My garage brought in an auto electrician and he sorted that and its been fine ever since. I replaced the battery and alternator around that time and since then the exhaust and front springs have been replaced. The cambelt was done in 2012 at 13k miles.
Unfortunately it doesn't come with a tool kit or jack, but it does come with a Thule roof rack (not fitted) and a Haynes manual.
Great little project for someone who wanted to fix it up, they'd have a nice car at the end. I think its too good to scrap but I've bought another car now.
The car is located in South Manchester, buyer collects, cash in full on collection. I can't see how to post photos here but you can email me at [email protected] for photos. Best offer over £180 secures.
