There used to be some matchbox set where you could colour your own cars.

Came with permanent markers.

The black was useful for simulating the many burnt out cars I saw in the area I grew up in

Even when I was learning to drive, I remember having to dodge burnt out cars in lessons.

And how would sir be bringing his car here once he's mangled it? You'd have to insure it first - there's two sorts of insurance here, your basic bog standard 3rd party only with no frills whatsoever and "kasko", you can read that as "cash cow" if you want, my D9 would cost me something like 1,500 quid a year  (it's bad enough the 700 quid the 3rd party rubbish costs :( ). No idea why the insurance premiums are so high

Head on and rolled too. Lots of twisty mountain roads where I am, I had to take my other half to a school they were reopening up in the mountains last week. I took it dead slow because people were coming round blind bends on the wrong side of the road. And then there's the "overtake at all costs" mentality, people seem to take unbelievable chances just to get in front of you. So while I was on my way up the mountain I had some loon trying to get past me, there's no passing places or anything, eventually I found a straightish bit, stuck my r/h indicator on and pulled in tight to the kerb (kerb? Ok, mud) so he could go past. He sat behind for a while but I wasn't going to carry on all the way up with him trying to get round me in case he took both of us off a cliff. Eventually he got the idea.

I suppose the roads are much clearer here so 9 times out of 10 they'll get away with crazy driving. It's that tenth time though, when a car's coming the other way and can't take evasive action, that's when their cars end up on the car mart sites looking like a half-eaten banana.

But then you have to import it :(

I think the price on that one is a mistake, look at this one. a 2.0 HDi Kombi for 3,549€? Compared to this it's a real bargain :( FFS, look at this, then compare it to this

yeah of course i will guvnor

the prices are all over the place for any kind of motor here,
but all a lot bloody higher than you would want to pay back in the UK

The other thing i dont like about these foreign cars is having to pay for the reg plate in with your insurance and annual check up, I personally like the UK way of doing it, where the plate belongs to the car and always will unless somebody sticks a private plate on.

The local scrappy has offered me 4000 Pln for mine as a breaker (or wheel swap and flogged on more like), i wouldnt get that back home as a runner with T+T

It makes me all a bit teary eyed for the UK sometimes, then i look out the window at the 35+ degrees sunshine, check my greatly reduced weekly shopping bill, admire the only thriving economy in europe right now and think "you know what F*&k it I did make the right choice" :cheesy:

I've thought about running a UK car here and done some investigating - I'm not supposed to drive a foreign-registered car here for more than 3 months without importing it. It also must be fully legal (MOT, tax and insewerants) in its country of origin, so it'll have to go back every year for an MOT, plus the joy of paying road tax and insurance for a country I wouldn't be driving it in :frown: . It'd need insurance to cover it here of course, which is something not many UK companies will do. I know I could just drive it regardless but I'd rather not give them any excuses to refuse my visa. Plus, what if I have an accident? Let's face it, that's pretty likely with the driving here and I don't think they'd care whose fault it was if I was uninsured.

The UK are one of the few countries in the world that keep the numberplate with the car, I only have to pay for the numberplate when I first register the car, then it's just the safety check, renewing the registration (is that what you meant?), the hideously expensive insurance and a tax form (about 50 quid). The registration just means I keep the plates I suppose, but I don't pay much in the way of tax on it so it's swings and roundabouts I guess. If I don't renew the registration I have a few weeks to give the plates back, if I don't I can be nicked for it. I don't even get a tax disk, just a little sticker to say the car's passed it's safety test.

My logic on the UK car is that i can pop back to the UK at least once a year to purchase a new to me motor with the obligatory 12 months T&T stick it on my UK insurance for 3rd party only, as over here that's all my insurance would cover me for anyway, drive back here and use for approaching 12 months and flog on and hopefully make at least a small profit.

I dont have the worry of a Visa to refuse, what with us all being Europeans and all that

As long my car is fully legal and registered to an address back in the UK its covered over here, insurance companies will tell you back in the UK that your cover is only valid for up to 90 days at a time in Europe, but that's what they want you to think, the truth of it is all insurance sold in Europe now must cover you in all European countries for the full term of the cover to at least 3rd party level. My insurance isn't that cheap in the UK (5 years No Claims Discount and counting) but its cheaper than buying a car here and having to start at zero discount as a new customer on the Polish insurance market

Later this year we will look at getting a Polish car for the wife and start the ball rolling with the insurance so that when i do go fully legit and register as a resident looking to gain my Polish residency and all the benefits that may bring, we wont be starting from zero. Until then the UK is my chosen market for a motor, even with the wheel on the wrong side

It may not be completely legal but its not completely illegal either. Freedom of movement within Europe has its advantages

as for the weather forecasts with the titties do you get that crazy TV programme from further east with the beautiful women losing their tops and revealing their somewhat bloody fantastic boobs at the most inopportune moments, all filmed in the Jeremy Beadle "you've Been Framed" style? its on here most nights on TV plus, its quickly becoming one of my favourites :cheesy:

Oh, I can't wait 'til HR joins the EU. Hold on, prices rising, wages increasing to compensate, vicious cycle styleee. I'll have to get a job :(

No topless Beadle's About that I've spotted, there was some soft porn a while back but I've not looked for it lately. It's probably on after midnight anyway and I'm safely tucked up in bed by then.

This was just the weather forecast, at 7pm (no mamby-pamby watershed here), it started off with some shots of beaches, one shot had two young ladies, both topless. It's hardly anything special here tbh, with topless swimming pools and beaches and quite a few nude ones too it's nothing new to the natives anyway. Incidentally, a couple of years back while I was working in my garden I spotted my neighbour going out the back of her house so I popped my head over the wall to say hi. And immediately died of embarrassment 'cos she was topless
