I think that's generally agreed. Shame about the MUX :(

Pre-MUX D9 is the solution there! Anyone want to buy a pre-MUX D9 saloon? Still got one for sale ... needs a little bit of bodywork.

If it's a D9 it has a BSI and if it has a BSI it's multiplex. See? I can be more opinionated here than on the coupé club

Put it this way, everything I read says they went multiplex in 2002. Which is of course bollocks - I guess this refers to the com2000 which was added July 2001 and this is definitely multiplex. Before that they had a BSI and I can't think of any reason for the car's systems to have a central processing unit, unless it was in some way digital - i.e. multiplex. Even Haynes' vague and almost totally useless wiring diagrams feature the BSI and they don't cover com2000-equipped cars. Yet there it is, item 16 on almost every damn diagram, often featuring the magic words "See diagram 7 Multiplex VAN"

So, what do you think? :?

I wonder if this apples to the D8.5 :?

I'm sure I've read that all 406s are multiplexed to some degree. The D9s pre-COM2000 are similarly wired to the D8s, but Peugeot apparently went a little bit nuts with the old multiplexors when they decided COM2000 would be a great thing to put in them.

I'll go along with that. Also, is it the angle of the photo or does that bonnet look a bit iffy over the nearside headlamp?

I spotted a "D9" writing on my 2001 car. Wonder if <1999 cars have D8 written where I have D9?

This is the place: you know you have a small almost not visible "VDO" writing on the left speedo (rev counter), at the bottom? Look at the same place of the right speedo: there I have "D9". Is this common?

I had that on my 1999 saloon - D9, written in glossy black text on a matt black background, so you don't see it unless you look closely.

I wonder if that's there on HDis with white dials?

Never noticed it for sure. Is it there on D8s?

Would normally say D9 15m or D9 16m - depending on how high the speedo goes. 15m = 150mph, 16m = 160mph. Never noticed anything like it on a D8, but the clocks on D8s were made by a different manufacturer. If memory serves, D8s are Sagem & D9s are VDO Dayton.
