If you click the link there are ways of tracking where you were redirected from and whichever arsehole spammed this forum will get a brownie point. I.e. avoiding them like the plague is the best thing to do.

Sometimes I mistake them for something of some actual value but most of the time I'm cursing them for messing up my new posts refreshes, the only way to get rid of them seems to be to look at them. It's a shame Nick & Niz can't be around often enough to zap them. How dare they have lives!

It's World of Warcraft, these dickheads sell in game gold and items; the shyte is all over ebay.
It's as if their alter online ego is more important to them than real life, very sad :(

More important than any form of social life. Hey guys, time to stop playing with your joysticks, grow up and get life. Hey, there's loads of stuff out there, and it's all real!

Hmm, WoW could be World of Wanking, Darwin would be proud

Never got on with World of Wank, but I did spend a considerable amount of time playing Eve Online. Fantastic game, but a hell of a time (and money!) sink... Nowadays I just play on the 360 when I'm not in the pub :)

These arnt bot's. These are actual humans spamming. Thats why theyre getting past the captchas and the new user registration restrictions I've enabled.

The only real hard way to stop them is to manually verify each account thats registered. We dont have millions of new members everyday, however I dont want to delay any new user requiring help.

Any other suggestions you guys can come up with?

N
Thanks,
Nick

Thought so, copy, paste, submit, paste, submit, paste, submit... Create some moderators? Licensed to zap anyone who comes on, writes gibberish and posts links for things wholly car unrelated (and not for inability to spell or use punctuation in any meaningful way, misuse of the caps lock key, overuse of smileys or use or the word "lol").

Either that or we just keep ignoring them so their posts drown.

OK so meat-based bots a.k.a. middle eastern kids working for a slice of bread a day...

It's been a while since I hacked around with phpbb (since my days running a counter-strike server and forum no less), but I guess if you give me a few days I can probably come up with a plugin which asks a 406 question or two...

"Which of these pictures is the Peugeot logo" (too easy?)
"Which of these pictures is a 406 dashboard"
"Is your handbrake effective?"

The only problem I can see is would-be buyers or 306 owners looking for info on the XU10J2TE might not be inclined to drag up ebay for the answers. It might be possible to put in an alternative to the questions if you can't answer them so you'd fill in a box saying a few words about why you want to join and that'd get sent off for mod approval?

how's about a report this post button
i don't know how hard that would be to do but i've seen it on other forums then all that happens is if enough people click it nick gets a full inbox and deletes or bans the post / user i guess with more mods that would mean less hassle for nick but as a relative newbie on here how that would work

They can't even be arsed to invade current topics! prefering instead to dig up old dead threads for us, oh joy.

Maybe we could direct them to the "Neverending Story" thread
