I'm not really up with swapping engines but.. Is it possible? Well, you could fit a jet engine in there, that's possible  Is it easy though, that's another question.

It might help to know some details, 406 TDi what? 2.1 or 1.9? What was in the Berlingo? Earlier Berlingos were fitted with the XUD9, which would make things quite easy...

What year is your car, and what year is the van?

If they are both made after 1999 then it's more than likely they will fit, although you may need to swap injectors etc if the fuel system is different...

Definitely a 1.9 diesel on the 406?
It's a changeover year so could be the earlier 1.9xud or the later 2.0hdi.

I'm confused, you have a 1999 1.9 XUD in a 406 but also have a spare 406 'tdi' engine - to possibly transplant into an 'older' 2005 van :?

Whichever way around this is you're likely to run into issues with immobilisers/ECU's/Keys/Wiring Looms etc in my mind.

I'd say that unless you have a spare engine of the same type (so you can rob all the ancillaries off it) then you'll be creating work for yourself here.

Scrap prices are supposed to be high(er) right now - your Van mate might be better weighing-in and buying another similar working van for cheaps?
