Mot again

Post by D9406 »

Hi all,
not been on for a while, still got the 406 hdi gtx 110 estate. 140k.
put it in for it's mot, failed on handbrake so the tester took it up the road to drive it with the handbrake on, back on the tester and it passed the handbrake test easily. Next fail item was a rear seatbelt wouldn't latch, a poke around inside with a screwdriver and something clicked, seat belt then locked.
So another 12 month ticket on the old girl, 1999 vintage.

1999 406 HDi 2.0 110 GTX Estate. 48k when bought, now 150K. Second owner, I've covered over 100k in it.
Clutch changed @110k, bottom pulley changed, cam belt changed, EGR blanked, cat removed, front springs changed.

I always used to drive to the MOT test and give the handbrake a good workout on the way there, even working it sharply at over 40mph to clean up the braking surfaces as they get glazed over on the 'in the drum' type set ups.

That's impressive for a 20 year old car, you forget how old they are sometimes. It was always reported on here in peak times how easy going the 406 was with MOT's with little to no corrosion or suspension issues.

My handbrake on my saloon was always quite good for some reason.
