Service Box - spare parts, service schedules, stuff like that. Sedre - wiring diagrams, pinouts, installation diagrams, iffy fuse diagrams etc. (no part numbers).

I first downloaded it off of pages of links on a now defunct diagnostics forum, very slowly, it took days. These days it's on most torrent sites. The one I last downloaded was called "ServiceBox + SEDRE 09.2011" - stick that in the search box on one of the usual suspects.

Well no, but the Sercvice Box backup will go out of date (if it didn't already, mine's 2011 so pretty old) so you won't keep up with any parts changes if stuff gets superseded etc. You won't be able to check current prices. Plus it won't decode your VIN as you won't actually be registered for the database.

Also, they're huge, DocBackupAP is over 6 gigs on this machine, something similar for SEDRE but you can't avoid that one. I mainly use it because I'm registered in the UK for it (prices) and it throws a wobbly when it sees I'm in Croatia, I have to go in through VPN/proxy and it's a pain if I forget as it blocks me until I delete the cookies and start again.

That is good if you want to view wiring diagrams, technical how-to-do things like cambelt change etc. Servicebox online charges for those abilities but viewing parts for specific vin's is free. You can no longer use your vin in the ebay disc set [you can still search generically] so having an online signin is essential for exact part location for your particular car [but even this gets it wrong sometimes.. :? ]

I forgot about the repair manual  Not that I ever found much that was useful on it.

Umm, it's up to you really, you could pay for online access but you'll probably spend your first 24 hours figuring out how to use it. If you can use the wiring diagrams then go for the Sedre download and treat the service box backup as a might-be-useful-one-day bonus.
