There was a cover loose under the back seat of my D8, I can't remember if it was just a plug or if it was the cover for the tank sender but that was pretty nibbled under the seats. I just gave 'em a wire brush and stuck some black paint on. Hey, nobody but you is ever going to see that...

I don't think so, possibly too much rear seat cleaning.. :supafrisk:

All I've done to the car recently is clean the leather up ( comes up okay to be honest ) and I bought 2 rear number plate bulb holders and a rear badge from a 306 estate but the same parts as the 406... :cheesy:

The MFD will be relisted on eBay, as the winning bidders both changed their minds, and sort the fuel flap alarm.
I'm not bothered about the random rear wiper, it works on request - it just carries on going for a bit after you turn it off...

MOT due in about 5 weeks.

Car is now sold.

I didn't truly appreciate how much water was coming into the car when it rained - it was like a water tap had been opened behind the dash....
It wasn't the sunroof drains, and once the rubber bung was removed from under the car then most of the water came out. Peter suggested it was somewhere in the scuttle panel, which was very blocked under the pollen filter, but the drains were clear - unless there was something else I couldn't see...
Sadly, because of this I had a problem with the battery draining every night, so I had to keep disconnecting it to stop the alarm going off in the middle of the night..

The rear wiper was sorted with a BSI reset, new bulb holders from a 306 estate and the car was great - but I had the opportunity of a bargain V6 Coupe come up, so I bought this and sold the Estate on.

Here is the car that I've replaced the Estate with...

Image

Image

Its a D8 V6 manual, poverty spec :? , 75K miles, full service history, new timing belt, new discs and calipers all round, never failed an MOT in its lifetime :cheesy:

No rust - anywhere - the previous owner took care of it - even spent around £1,000 on a new air con pump

I bought it cheap as the owner was emigrating, and the slave cylinder leaked into the bellhousing and the pedal fell to the floor - the previous owner had called the local scrapyard to take it away but I managed to bag it first.

The clutch system on the early V6 is a silly sealed system, which is a pain, and the replacement part was going for nearly £500 on eBay - I got one for free as a fello Coupe owner had a spare pipe, and I had already given him my old comms unit 8)

Cost of the fix was 2 hours labour at a local clutch specialist - £132.

Sailed through the last MOT - no advisories ( although MOT Sven said it needs an exhaust and the rear brakes balancing :supafrisk: ) so another clean sheet.

All in all - I'm well happy with this car.

You Jammy Git  are you saying you got that for scrap money?

The new Calipers & Discs all round including the a/c pump must've set the PO back £2,000.00 at least

And who on earth bought the mobile pond feature off you? :?

Yes, I'm a jammy get for sure :cheesy: .
I had previously sold the estates MFD on fleabay for pretty much the same as what I paid for the car :supafrisk: and after the estate became more of a water feature than a 406 ( still worked perfectly though ) I decided to sell it on.
Someone on Facebook bought it as a donor car for waaaay more than it was worth
So, to cut a long story short - the extra money from the estate has covered the cost of buying the Coupé, fixing the Coupé and MOTing the Coupé.

I guess you could say the Coupé cost me nothing at all..

I rarely have this kind of good luck - so I grabbed the opportunity with all my appendages.

Morning!

Yes that was very lucky, I like a story like that, my car ownerships tend to be negative financially.....

Hope you enjoy the Coupe.

Likewise. If I'd managed that my next move would be a lottery ticket.

Don't understand this midlife crisis thing tho, (unless a red 200SX counts).

Enjoy.
