Best thing to clean plastics?

Post by Benner »

Have just cleaned out the inside of my car and I can never seem to completely remove mud/dirt marks from the plastics around the bottom of the doors and round the back of the centre console.

So what do you guys use?

Cheers.

Hot Soapy water and a medium firm scrubbing brush is your best bet.
This is if you mean the black rub strips on the doors and bumpers.

After they're clean, I recommend Armour All for protection and that showroom new look. It lasts for about a week or two, depending on how wet the weather is.
My dad swore by it and I continue to.

Neil Davies used some stuff on the wife's 206 a few months back and it was still shining when we waved it goodbye on Sunday. Excellent stuff it was! 8)

What was that Neil, I'll have to get me some?? :D

I knew you meant inside plastics, where you kick the doors getting in and out. I use ordinary aerosol dashboard cleaner on mine. I think mine is carplan. I know I used it on the weekend and they came off no problem.

The stuff Dai's on about is for exterior plastic trim, it's autoglym bumper care (or something like that). It's a green gel and is very similar to sliced bread.

Yet another use for WD40!! Have just used this to remove all the glue from underneath the vinal door stickers. Didn't think to try it on plastic.

If this doesn't work, i'll have to invest in some dash cleaner, cheers for that neil.
