... I guess I'm equally screwed :D

I've had the BMW over a year now. Time flies! Other than an incident where one of the rear tyres changed its mind about having any air in it, resulting in me having to buy two brand new runflat tyres at a Kwik-Fit in the middle of nowhere, it's not been terribly expensive or troublesome to own. The worst thing about it so far honestly is that nobody lets you out at any junction, or extends any courtesy to you in any form.

My indicators work and are used - a lot - and I do let people out at junctions, move into the right lane to let people out of petrol stations beside dual-carriageway roads, etc.

I can see you possibly getting a reprieve in the medium term.
Audi 'drivers' have been working hard to become even less popular and more recently the Merc 'A-Team' have been pushing hard for recognition as world class knobbers.

I'm keeping the 406 on a multicar for the time being as i don't want to part with it untill i'm fully settled with the Mondeo,i suppose the Mondeo 2.2 engine is a Peugeot derivative so should be o.k.

I kinda get that but don't understand it other than "hey this guys got a fancy BMW he must be rich so therefore I'm gonna make him wait a bit longer cos he probably thinks he's better than me anyway" kinda thing?

TBF like Doggy says there's a new breed of cock warblers out there at the wheel of A3's and Merc A-Class's. I have special feelings towards them :frown:

There might be some similarities like the core engine block etc but the fueling system will be Fords own I think?

Well i've gone and been and done it,i've now got a 2011 Mondeo 2.2 Titanium Sport X estate (200ps) with 61k on the clock, they class it as a MK 4.5
First impressions are very good except the fuel consumption, gone are the heady days of nearly 50 mpg from the 406 as i am now down to high 30's low 40's but it does have the "grin factor" when you give it some.Funnily enough the 406 is better in the low rev range and the Mondeo has a bit of turbo lag but when the turbo kicks in it flies.
The technology and the electronics in the Mondeo worry me a bit but i suppose we have to move with th times? Having said that i can't bare to part with the 406 so it's on a multicar untill i am really comfortable with the Mondeo,i will post some pics when have time.

Looks lovely grasmere :supafrisk:
Jealous me noooooo
As you have already found out though the fuel consumption / road tax & servicing costs would worry me
Also hope Ford have sorted out issues like having to pay over 1K just to have new injectors coded

Hope you enjoy it & have many happy years motoring :)

I'm starting to get used to the fuel consumption vs the performance it has and the tax is £195 so it could have been worse i suppose,it's got 61k on the clock with 7 ford main dealer stamps in the book so hopefully (fingers crossed) things that needed doing have been done,it's obviously got a dpf which i can't get away from and as for injectors, just have to wait and see i suppose.Still got the 406 though if things go pear shaped :)

Looks good, the Mondeo Estate is a handsome motor, I like the half leather too.
Enjoy it, it's a blast to drive - it's not easy to find the balance of performance and economy, but the 2,2 diesel engine is a decent compromise.

With the sport suspension it's like driving a hot hatch wrapped up in an estate bodyshape. :D

They're fantastic bits of kit and been out long enough now that there's cheaper solutions to all the issues that used to worry me senseless when I owned mine.

If you're worried about rust is it worth getting it undersealed and all the cavities filled? You could probably do it with Bilt Hamber products and buy a Sealey SG18 for £150. I never noticed anything other than surface rust on the suspension parts on mine.

Send me your address and I'll send a Haynes over. I was going to give it to my neighbour but he's just bought a Toureg.
