Glow plug anti-seize?
Recommendations please.
I did the 106 TUD5 a few years back and greased the threads with common all garden muck, then last year we went to change them again and they fought all the way out, I was amazed that none snapped.
Don't particularly want to feck up the 3.0Tdi on 2nd week of ownership.
I would ask on the Audi forum but I think they all have a man to do the dirty stuff.

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?
Not sure on the 3.0 v6 tdi but the glow plugs in my passat had been there 11 years when I came to change them, they came out with no fuss at all. It's best to do while the engine is warm, take it for a run then try not to burn yourself.

Sounds like the Volvo Forum then get all sniffy when 'the man' doesn't deliver the service expected, or it costs more....
Soak in WD40 for 6 months?
Jasper on here will have a lot of experience with this, I would ask though - why risk changing them unless you're having problems?

They seem to talk about re-mapping in hushed tones. Gentlemen don't re-map their vehicles, they buy the right one in the 1st place.
Re. the plugs, they are not stuck(he says) I just want to know what I should put the new ones in with?
Copper grease, unobtanium grease, or as God intended?
2 have failed which throws up the EML, along with the swirl flaps.
Still got 4 that work though!

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?
I guess you don't want to use a lubricant that could end up in the cylinder and coating the injector (if that's possible or feasible).
I think if it was me I'd use a dab of clean engine oil but see what the pro's say. I guess whatever you use isn't going to stay in there for long with all the heat and do you really care if they're going to be a pain for someone in 2023?

Notsure what Audi forums you've been on but the ones I've been on its a regular topic, the vw passat forum I use you'd struggle to find a user who's car isn't remapped.

Perhaps it's just V6 snobbery.

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?
Having read all the internet wisdom(scoff) on glow plug anti-seize I've bought a tin of nickel anti-seize paste.

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?
Mercedes and febi bilstein produced a ceramic grease designed for glow plugs, spark plugs and DI injectors.
It not cheap, about £20 for a small Vaseline sized pot but seems to be the stuff for the job.

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?
Ceratec works fine and is cheap as chips, otherwise, yes, nickel based antisieze - not copper based as that will just make them stick worse from galvanic corrosion.
Re: Glow plug anti-seize?
500g tin of nickel paste arrived today.
9 quid off Ebay cheap enough for a lifetime supply.
Cheaper than a snapped glow plug that's for sure.

Why am I thinking that EVERYTHING in piglet's house is going to receive a smear of Nickel Paste?

Re: Glow plug anti-seize?
I suspect that at 9 quid for 500g it's probably more grease than nickel antiseize anyway, it'll be fine on the hinges
