2.2 HDi Estate

Post by FarmerPug »

I have returned to driving a 406, i went over to birmingham before christmas for this one with 112,000 on the clock and one owner from new. It came with 3 keys, the code card, a cigarette lighter that has never been used and the log book shows 1 previous owner. Hard to find this on a 406 now.

A clean engine bay, the underside of the bonnet is the only bad part as its quite corroded, everywhere else seems to be rot free.

Who is driving a 2.2 now? On the run home the trip computer showed 42mpg. What do these get on short runs?
I have doggys 6 speed conversion thread opened and am strongly considering doing this if i find the parts.

Looks good Frank.
I got 60+ mpg on a run, 45mog round town - so you may need some injector cleaner/ Italian tune up....?
3 keys and the key card is rare, and I guess it's SE spec?
Was this one of Nigel's cars?

Edit, I've just seen the pics close up - nice Executive model 8)

Well done you! I was watching this one having been alerted to it by another forum user but I was just too busy with other stuff....
Glad to see it's gone to a good home.

My typical mpg figures are 46 ish in the winter and 50 or slightly better in the summer. The 6-speed box and 'losing' the DPF will both help a little, but the biggest increase in economy would come from doing away with the egr. There's a few of my threads that should help, feel free to drop me a PM if you have any questions.

Enjoy

2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Nice, I veiwed it in November, but the seller wouldn't shift on the price.
What did you give for it if you don't mind me asking?
I thought £1695.00 was a bit steep but it is a very nice example

I paid £1550 for it, in the end, the seller didn't budge much but there is a year's MOT and it didn't look like too many things need done, it is in really nice condition.

The fuel consumption between work and home, which is a 5-mile journey each way on back roads all under 40mph the trip computer is saying 30mpg

It has had the 180 map apparently and the FAP has been enhanced appropriately to suit, it certainly feels very but the air dosers and EGR remain. I'll be pulling the old one off the 607, need to measure the pipe up again and get a few made from it.
