My brush with the general public (car park ding)
Last Saturday I was sat in the car in a Waitrose Car Park (ooh get me eh?) whilst Mrs_Welly was in the shop. An lady (in her 60's) parked up next to me in a 90's Civic and opened her door...it came out wide and fast and it really smacked our Citroen door. She looked right at me sitting in my seat, I thought "oh here we go" and released my seat belt ready to get out and speak to her and look at it all.....gave her the chance to get out first and then opened my door. She darted off. Gone.
Just as I went to call her back I saw Mrs_Welly approaching. She knew nothing of this. A decision had to me made there and then. I did nothing, completely blanked the situation for an easy time.
Luckily* I managed to get a quick look at our door and although there was a mark/scratch there was no ding, her door must've been at too great an angle to make a dent.
Anyway the point of all this is that she knew very well what happened but just f*cked off and ignored me. My opinions about 'most other people' have not changed

Re: My brush with the general public (car park ding)
Maybe you frightened her....
Personally, I always go in with t'wife, partly for this reason, and partly to stop me sitting out in the car wondering why the feck it's taking her so long.
Car park dings, fact of life innit? Sadly no matter how much you care about your chariot there are just too many people that just don't give a toss. You can either a) never park your car anywhere other cars can get near it or 2) Have a car you don't really care about. Or iii) carry a gun.
Your first mistake. Did you know supermarkets are designed to attract wimmin whilst repel men? Research shows that wimmin are far more likely to make unnecessary purchases whilst unaccompanied by their men folk, so stores are designed to keep you out, making it easier to strip your wife of her cash.Welly wrote:Last Saturday I was sat in the car in a Waitrose Car Park (ooh get me eh?) whilst Mrs_Welly was in the shop.

Annoying, isn't it.
If I go shopping with Mrs Doggy we use a disabled space, otherwise I park at the far end of the car park, (you've only got to look at a 406 to dent it as you know).
It's maybe just as well you didn't get to discuss it with her - could well have turned out more irritating for no real gain.

I agree, it is sometimes easier to just let the masses take advantage. To resist the onslaught of ignorance rarely ends favourably.
I live by an unrepeatable alternative twist on the expression - 'Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet'.
As the happy shoppy I get to endure Aldi's twice a week but am enjoying the fringe benefits of driving the sons cast off Arosa in that I don't have to care about stuff like that.
However it is amusing to see the reaction of others when a banger squeezes in next to them. I am of course careful, but they don't know that.
Just recently it was a 67 plate white 4WD(?(who cares)), the owner (female) wouldn't leave her car until I was gone.

Re: My brush with the general public (car park ding)
Last Saturday I watched from the other end of the carpark in Costco a lovely trolley get pushed along by the wind straight into the drivers door of the Missus Duster. Two big dents in the drivers door.
Lucky the scratches in the dent are minimal so I need to find a good PDR guy now to try and pull/push the dent out.

Re: My brush with the general public (car park ding)
Fxxxxxg annoying isn't it,
I don't take the coupe anywhere like that for this reason.
And the estate, well I gave up on that in the first year of ownership.
Some fxxxwit opened their car doors onto it while we were standing at the back,
When challenged about it, he said what's your 'problem pal, it's only a old banger'
My boys were 4 & 6 at the time, the wife pleaded with me to leave it

This is why I prefer unevolved animals, such as cats, as opposed to evolved one (us). I have a really nasty ding on my door - months after getting them all removed. Fking twats.
