Its heyday seems to have passed. A lot of discussion has moved onto Facebook, which is a bit of a shame as forums are searchable and keep a record of solutions whereas the same answers have to be provided over and over on Facebook.

Being a member of a Facebook car group is like being a member of the Star Trek Borg. Information is store in the minds of the members, questions are addressed to the collective and members either provide the information they hold or tag another member that they know holds the information.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.

Has moved onto what now? :(

I thought the FB thing was a dead duck? if it is more popular than the forum then we're knackered. Unfortunately* I won't be joining FB, I don't even do ebay (which I'm still glad about btw).

I guess we have to face the fact that even if someone out there bought a 406 for £500.00 or whatever how likely or how keen will they be to want or need to come here for advice? they'd mostly able to find the information they want here and then bugger off.

Its not just here, most of the forums I use are much quieter now, except the vintage radio forum, that always seems busy. I think the main reason as that there are fewer and fewer people repairing there own cars now, so they must have more money then me.

Eww

The Volvo Forum I use* is very busy but it covers eleventy hundred Volvo models and has a 'Lounge' and General Talk area. It's not unusual to log on after a weekend and see 2000+ new postings.

Think we've said before that rather than die off we would need to join forces with another Forum to keep going regularly.

I have to say that out of any Forums I've used in the past this one has the nicest people, it would be a shame for it to tail off to nothing.

They're not dwindling in Croatia anyway, there are loads about still and they don't look like heaps either. Especially that black estate I keep seeing

Petar loves it though.

Forums are a far better source for information than facetube.
Unfortunately the more specific the forum the tighter the audience is and in the case of a forum for a specific car it's only going to have a limited lifespan (unless it's a classic).
A good lounge section can help people come for the info ad stay for the banter. There's a couple of forums I'm on where I no longer need the info and have none to share but keep tabs on the lounge area.
