Oh deer.

Post by Doggy »

My daughter hit a fair sized fallow deer this morning, which proved terminal for the deer and none too healthy for her 307.
She had Mrs Doggy and our cavalier, Rufus on board - thankfully no one was hurt.

I was a few miles in front on my way to work and turned around to help. At first glance her car looked pretty bad, the front offside corner had all but disappeared and there was a puddle of something on the road. On closer inspection, it looks like the plastic wing is mangled and the headlight unit obliterated, but the puddle is from a crumpled washer reservoir and it's driveable, (apart from lights & ragged bodywork).

I'll get a proper look later, but I think we may get away with the light unit, washer tank, front wing and hopefully not much more.

Fixed that for you.

Glad all are OK. You'll be eating pre-tenderised venison steaks for a while, though. Hope you don't end up with gout!

I'm guessing if you even whispered this to the insewerance it'd be bye bye 307.....

Massive bummer though as it'll be tricky to get it all nice and straight again. I guess it could've been far worse; she might have swerved and hit something much less squishy.

I've not hit that many animals in my time; a few Rabbits and small Birds is all. I still remember the family travelling in the car in front of me (a Rover 45) when they hit a full-grown Cow in the pitch dark and it flipped right over their roof

Venison with a twist of washer fluid with a headlight shard. Heston would be charging hundreds.

Unfortunately the car in front plus the Pug despatched two deer, then failed to gralloch either of them. Besides I fear I have a touch of gout already. :(

Seems there was another wounded casualty in the ditch that the RSPCA had to finish off. Looks like it was a doe and two fawns, tragic really they're lovely animals.

Getting back to the 307, it looks worse than I first thought, but still saveable. As well as the front wing, its going to need the bracketry its attached to plus the front bumper, (which is pretty much the whole front bodywork), the light unit plus whatever holds that in place and various trim bits. There's a fair dent in the sill and the leading edge of the front door skin is folded inwards, but doesn't foul anything. Far as I can tell, the wheels, suspension etc. all look OK.

She drove it home in the end thus avoiding paying for recovery, after the AA man tied all the loose bits up with a bag of tie raps and stuck an indicator lamp in the remains of the light unit to appease plod. Main thing is no one was hurt, though Mrs Doggy is still fairly shaken up.

Now I needs to find a find someone scrapping a 307, (Restyling) in a fetching shade of metallic blue - KMF - RECIFE BLUE according to SeviceBox or KMFD** according to the sticker on't doorpost

Facebook. It's like a virtual-reality pub filled with people you don't really know where can endlessly talk about the stuff that interests you without anyone having to take any notice or even take a moment out from talking endlessly about the stuff that interest them.

I read a great description of Facebook on the AS Forum once:
Facebook isn't "normal people" it's the idealised life people want to portray whilst they actually feel sh*t about how well* everyone else seems to be doing.
