Something i picked up today:

Its a 607 with the 2.2 HDi. Surprisingly it does not have any antipollution faults and everything works although being the boggo model may help that.

Are there still many 2.2 HDi 406 owners on here? Can a 607 be defapped and remapped like a 406?

Yes, the ECU should still be the Bosch EDC15C.

As far as i can tell it has the bosch injection system.

Yup they are suprisingly cheap, the C5 was cheap because its a bit of a guzzler, but this 607 with the 2.2 hdi seems a grand workhorse that is far more comfortable than most modern alternatives.

The 607 is a good car, but when it was released it had to compete with other luxury cars which has better reviews and less French...
Cheap as chips to buy one nowadays, and higher spec ones are choc full of gadgets, as well as a nice auto for the 2.2hdi.

I have been driving the 607 since the start of the month and have to say its a fine big car, no issues to complain about.

While getting it ready for the mot i broke the handbrake gater to get to the adjuster and i went to the scrapyard looking another gater.
I returned home with one plus a few other spares:

The best bit...

A full 607 stuffed with all the toys, another 2.2 HDi with a 6 speed gearbox.
Ive had a look around it and it has faults; no brakes, DPF light, the ignition does not come on until the car has started, and the engine may have head gasket failure.

Do the 2.2 HDi engines ever contaminate the coolant with oil through the bypass heat exchanger?

Never heard of that happening and don't think it's likely - if there was a leak, you'd be losing coolant whenever it was off-boost.
Easy enough to pressure test the water passages tho.

Very nice. Love the cream leather.
I very briefly drove one belonging to a chap who came for a PP2k session. Vanilla 2.2. You certainly wouldn't want to be dragging it around with a 2.0 110.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I had a go in a 2.0 110 a few years back, it felt underpowered.
The 2.2 in its standard state is no ball of fire either but it feels more than adequate, its a heavier feeling car than the 406 but does feel quite a bit more solid.
