Invoicing

Post by Bailes1992 »

Bit of an odd one.
When my partners C1 arrived it had damage on it. The transportation company admitted liability but we made the deal that they would pay for the damage only if PSA charged us for it.

When we handed it back they charged us for the damage and took the money out of my account.

The transportation company have asked me to invoice them for the damage on the car but I fail to see how I can do that as I'm not a business?

Am I missing something?

You want an invoice from PSA that you can copy and send to the transport company with your own letter asking for payment.
You need to give PSA something for their accounts and with proof of your payment.

The locked-tight audit trail is....

1. Something from PSA ... an invoice or letter, that shows the charge to you.
2. Something that confirms that you have paid the charge. As you say that PSA took the money from your account, this may be the same as (1).
Or a follow-up letter from PSA to confirm your payment of the charge.

3. Letter to transport company, referring to your agreement with them, and requesting payment of the amount removed from your account
by PSA ( see attached letter(s).... 1 and 2 )

As the others have said I would recommend passing on a copy of the 'charge' deducted by the Lease Co. and follow it up by phone asap. Once you know you've sent it (signed for post would be good) then get a contact (lets say Sandra) at the transport co and stick with them with any follow up calls i.e. "did you get my letter ok? and is that enough information to allow you to pay me? and when can I expect to receive the payment please?"

Then if you don't get a payment you can call Sandra and see if there's any problems or if they need any further information.

It might take a few weeks so be patient and polite and you should be fine.

Out of interest, how do you rate your experiences of leasing the car?

As I calculate you had it for 9 months? would you do it again?

I was going to ask the same!

I remember one of the wheels had a scuff which Bailes said would need fixing before handing it back.

In my mind leasing would be quite good if, say, you were awarded a 12 month work contract and needed transport for that period then it would make sense in a reduced risk/fixed cost kinda thing.

Opps forgot about it.

Leasing was great.
To have the car in the spec we had would cost over £11k and after 1 year would have been worth around £8k.
It was only £1500 in leasing costs for 12 months.

Horses for courses though.

I don't particularly like spending my weekends swapping gearboxes, clutches, brakes etc etc. The extra £1000/year is more than worth the peace of mind that comes with a new car.

However my girlfriend likes driving around in an older car, so now she has a 53 plate Astra. Which this weekend if the weather is tidy will be having new shocks/springs all round and the arches fully undersealed.

Also consider my partners insurance has increased by £200/year and the Astra needs tax at £280/year and the saving is much less. The C1 also dd 55-60mpg around town. The Astra does 27mpg.
