407 estate
I have to buy Pug again, after f*cking up and selling my 406 (big mistake) and buying a Focus which turned out shite, I am in the market. I quite fancy a 407 estate, anyone got one, or driven a 407? what is they like?
well slick where do i start
firstly it is different to the 406 not better just different
ive got the 136bhp 2.0 hdi saloon not the sw (turbolag's buying one of those)
first thing you notice is the console which looks daunting but you quickly get used to the buttons you need regularly and which you hardly need, the steering is very light and you dont get much feel back from it(not a problem for me i drive a van with same sort of setup),handling is awesome although i only had mine through the winter months its still a whole lot of fun on country lanes and the lack of feel thru steering isnt something thats caused an issue for me( and i dont drive slowly as i said i'm a van driver/courier type) the rear seats seem about the same size as the 406 as is the boot( which has a capacity of 407 cubic whatever it is
), best advice i could give is take a test-drive and when the rev-counter reaches about 2000 hang on cos its quite quick for an oil-burner
if you need anything specific let me know and i'll try and help

I've drove my works 407 estate (you can call it a SW all day long, it's an estate at the end of the day) and to be honest was very neutral about it. Not very special and not anything in particular. One thing to criticise it about though is its load capacity, the boot isn't that big, quite an awkwatd shape and awkward opening. The 406 estate would knock spots off it for carrying stuff

Not sure about everyone, but top gear covered a volvo v70, which was not a tradional volvo estate (i.e. nowhere near as big). The Mondeo estate looks a decent lugger, but I had a hire Mondeo for a nearly 2 months and wasn't impressed with the drive quality.

The V70 was the only other car in the running when I was shopping for my estate (or is it a SW
). Twas nice but the economy was pants, the load area was tiny compared to the pug, and the comparative cost was astronomical.
I though it was funny when I rang the bloke to tell him I wasn't having it, he said "I knew you weren't going to buy it as soon as you got in your shiny 406 and said that you were going to look at a 406 estate"
Brand loyalty eh?
