Log books

Anyone know how long it takes for a log book (v5) to arrive,
ive done a deal on a 04 reg, 110bhp 406,

But after iagreed to buy it, he said oh ive no v5 for it, the chap he got it off in part ex hasnt dropped it off,
he rekons 2 weeks for a replacement,
told him iwill buy it once the v5 is available,

is it normaly 2weeks for alog book hes no green slip either, :(

You can apply for a lognbook! Just make sure you get an invoice for the car and you'll be fine.

It should not take long, but I would suggest that they chase up the former keeper for the original.

I think the DVLA contact the former keeper before issuing the log book book so you have to factor that delay in as well.

Simple question though - without log book how will the car be taxed?
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

I had the mondingo one back in 8 days, but then, the original seller sent off the V5
So as already said, you got to factor in, DVLA contacting the last registered keeper, and them responding back to DVLA, so could be as bad as 4-6 weeks :(

Thanks all,

thats the problem theres no tax on it, so no green slip no tax,
and its been out over amonth so no grace period,

hes still saying it only takes two week,
iasked him for the last owners address two so ican chase the log book no joy there,

iwill leave it alone me thinks,

ihad a think on it, and Decided to wait on the log book,
car is half tidy, Well atleast its about the Straight-ist one icouid find pannel wise,

irang Dvla up and theyve confirmed hes applied for the v5 and the car check came back clear, not cat-c d or anything,

im just hoping the log book comes back before the tax expires on this italian junk im using, idont want to tax it the 6mths tax disc wouid be worth more than the
car, :( :oops:
