waterless engine coolant
i watched this video about this waterless engine coolant:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7Pykrgz ... re=g-all-u
here is an ebay link:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Evans-Waterle ... 630wt_1144
what do you think, would anyone want to spend that much on coolant that doesn't need changed?

I love the way in the US it's 40 bucks but in the UK it's 64 squids
40 bucks yes please, 64 quid I'll stick with changing it every 3 years, ta.

About the engine drain, I'm reading the haynes manual, the antifreeze new thermostat and gasket were purchased this morning but i remember a good guide on the wiki but i can't seem to get it anymore, is there still a how to on coolant flush.
The car isn't overheating its just better to be safe than sorry, especially as all my old pugs come to their end because of HG problems.

Oops, the wiki seems to have gone for a Burton again
It's all in the Haynes anyway, you don't absolutely have to have a header tank (aka Coke bottle with the bottom sawn off) but it saves needing to hover over it with a can of antifreeze while it warms up and cools down again.

Re: waterless engine coolant
I changed the antifreeze flushed the old one out, it was still a nice and green colour, the new stuff was red. A new thermostat also went in, the car seems to be running ok now staying at 90 and no further just as it did before.
Re: waterless engine coolant
I've been wanting to change the coolant in mine, but last year I bought some coolant, but could only find one bleed valve, not the 3 the hdi supposed to have, and just checked it with a hydromoter? and it said it was good for -39c.
I'm on hols in cornwall at mo, and had to work latish on the friday beforehand, so got my mate to do front droplinks, and oil and filter, and asked him to do coolant, but when I picked it up, he said he'd checked it with the hydromoter? and said it was fine.
Still not 100% happy, but the car rarely goes past 80c, unless booting it, and then it's never ever gone over 90

Re: waterless engine coolant
I only ever replace my coolant with Motul Inugel. Expensive stuff but I found on my 1.9TD the tempreture was far more stable.

Is it good to use 5 year stuff, it might last longer but i read somewhere its advised to flush the cooling system every year on a HDi?Bailes1992 wrote:I only ever replace my coolant with Motul Inugel. Expensive stuff but I found on my 1.9TD the tempreture was far more stable.
