Fuel Prices falling?

Post by Welly »

Noticed the cost of Petrol/Diesel is coming down?

Apparently something to do with Supermarkets and/or the Middle East at the moment?

Makes it slightly less painful for me anyway :frown:

It's been creeping downwards for a month or more. My 'barometers' being two I drive past every day. Both were perilously close to £1.50/l for diesel in late April, now the one near home is 136.9 & that near work is 137.9, intersetingly, in the same period the difference between the two has at times been as much as 6p/l. (I actually use Asda at 134.7 currently).

Filled up yesterday at a "Top" petrol station (we don't get Shell or Esso etc anymore) and it was 130.9 a litre for unleaded.

I think in the summer months there is traditionally less demand for fuel compared to when its ball freezing in the middle of winter.

Which is strange when you think of it because of more people needing fuel for summer holidays..... Oh wait summer hasn't arrived yet has it... silly me as you were.

But then people (theoretically) need less fuel for heating, less fuel for lighting, vehicles use less fuel defrosting and using lights, of a nice evening maybe sit out the back with a few bottles of wine instead of in the house using electric for the TV and computer. Maybe cycle or walk more than drive. School holidays mean a hell of a lot less traffic on the roads too.

Fuel prices are global too, there are numerous international factors to take into account. Perhaps some countries the factories shut for a month in the intense heat of summer?

I haven't seen them go down here, in fact I was under the impression that the price displays on the pumps only go one way... :(

Just sloshing some in the tank this morning, prices were:

Tesco Momentum U/L = 132.90p/l
Tesco Normal U/L = 127.90p/l
Tesco Diesel = 132.90p/l

The price has fallen by at least 10p/l since January so that's 45p/gallon in English (£145.00 per year for me).

Indeed, even a full fill up on our 70ltr tanks if a station is 5p cheaper 5 miles away thats a saving of £3.50 whoopdifuckingdo you've just drove 10 miles to save that enormous mass of money.

Exactly, and the cheapest petrol stations usually have a queue.

So the petrol of driving there, sitting in a queue, driving back, then the time spent driving and queueing which if it takes you the best part of half an hour you'd been better just going to the nearest petrol station.
