I know nothing about pp2000 but going by the laptop spec and what lexia says it needs you'll be fine.
This spec is for the product in the link below.

Software requires at least Intel Celeron/Pentium III 400 MHz, 128 MB RAM, 50MB free HDD space and USB 1.1 port (USB 2.0 recommended) and Microsoft Windows 98 SR2/2000/XP with the latest service pack installed.
If customer requires, we can prepare ready to work PC.

Looks OK to me too.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Handy that it's USB, some of the older ODB systems I've seen were serial port, you had to get an older machine - something like a Toughbook was ideal for the job.

That laptop should be up to the job no problem.

One thing to consider is the battery - on a lot of 2nd hand laptops the battery is more of a weight than of any use. If you can get a plug in your garage / extension lead you're sorted, but if your car is parked up in a block of flats car park and you need to run the laptop off battery, it is worth getting a new battery for it.

I've got it at home on loan at the moment and i turned it on and left it alone and the battery stayed up for about an hour and a half,it did keep going to sleep every 10-15 mins but i just kept waking it up and the battery stayed up,i wasn't doing anything with it so don't know if it is a true test of the battery life though.

Sounds fair enough, if it was sitting there with the screen lit up and not in standby/sleep, then sounds like the battery is in reasonable condition. Hour and a half is actually quite good for a 2nd hand machine!

That should be more than enough battery life for your needs shouldn't it?
My battery has been crap on here for a few years i'd have to run an extension if i was to hook it up to the car  ... I've got an in car charger for mine should have seen the looks i was getting when we went camping and i was sat in the back of the car checking my ebay items.
