Coming back to a 406 (again!!!!)

Post by lofty »

Hiya folks, not been on here in a while, well, since i sold my last trusty D9 rapier hdi estate anyway.

Been away from 406's for about 12months now (still got the lusty 306 gti on the go) so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.

Im shortly going to be back in the market for another 406 hdi, prefferably an early D9 (without the comms2000 issues) and ideally a 110bhp version, much the same as my old diablo red one i had. Reason for this is i'm looking at opting out of the company car scheme and running my own car again.

Ive looked at others, but the fact that i've had such a good experience with my last 3 406's means i cant find anything to better it, at the budget ive got.

So, has anything changed in the world of 406's then??

From March 2001 (51-plate) road tax is £130 instead of £210, which pays for a COM2000 after two years.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I think its possible to get a pre-COM2000 on a 51-plate.

Personally, I'd be after a late 110 in a good trim level (GLX, GTX, Exec) and with sat-nav (because the trip computer is better and its an amusing toy). :)
Or an Exec trim XUD to run on veg

also another great thing about the com2000 is the find me home lights.
and the trip computer is definatley better on sat nav cars (as long as the display hasnt lost lines).

Probably gonna regret saying this, but I've had no COM2000 issues in 3 years / 50k plus miles. :supafrisk:

When I was car hunting, I found one wonky COM2000 and two cases of 'spontaneous indicatoritis' infected older 406's.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I've got a 2002 GLX with sat-nav :cheesy:
Its a 90 though :|
And its a bit tatty :(

People seem to be asking upward of £1500 for tidy 2003+ ones which seems rather OTT to me.

Ditto doggy. I can't indicate left on hot days, but its gone through the MOT like that three times now. The next MOT is due next month...

biege (or cream as i call mine it sounds nicer :D ) its really nice colour of interior especially with the doorcard lights. Although its easy dirtied, are you getting leather seats at least they can be cleaned easier than beige fabric.
