Why have either when you can have both 8)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I went to see this on Sunday:

A 1968 Hillman Hunter, 1725cc 80,000km from new (or about 50,000 miles) It's having a new water pump here. It belongs to a mate of a mate.

This is a 1972, labelled as a Sunbeam, which he bought for spares but it's a goer too. He's just sold the pair for 5,000Kn (about 600 quid :shock: ) because he's bought a massive John Deer tractor (the back wheels are 2 meters in diameter). I also saw the diesel bike he's building around a generator engine (which I would have taken pictures of if I hadn't been too busy falling over his lawnmower, ow my back/ankle)

The old shunter's a blast from the past, (remember when they first came out & for a month or two you couldn't tell them & mk2 concertina's apart) :oops:
Years later my bro had a super posh version, (Humber Sceptre) i.e. same thing with lots of gadgets, wood trim, overdrive, twin 150 strombergs - would look real tacky today, cos you'd see the repmobile shining through.
In fact probably a bit like a 406 exec will look in years to come......

* takes cover *
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

"Hay granddad, tell us about when cars were powered by exploding fossil fuels!"

Mate had a Humber Sceptic, very plush car. The other one to have was the Hunter GLS, with the holbay engine complete with twin DCOEs 8)
