Hard to give you an objective answer as I have never driven a 2.1, (& I suspect few people have experienced both). As far as I can tell, the 2.1 has a reputation for strong performance and an undeserved reputation for heavy fuel consumption.

Virtually everyone avoids the 2.2 like the plague because of the FAP problem, (which is now easily and cheaply removable).

Pug set out to replace the 1.9 & 2.1 with the HDi 90 & 110 respectively, the new engines delivering virtually identical power & torque to their predecessors, at least on paper.

The 2.2 is really the first of the 'next generation' 16V designs, delivering 136bhp & 235 lb/ft in standard form.

Most people would agree there is a big difference in noise levels between XUD's & HDi's, the DW12 is noticeably quieter and smoother than a DW10.

I do most of my driving around town (oops ) and the fuel consumption difference is negligible (i.e. too small to notice), I do miss the shove I got when the turbo in the 2.1 came on song at about 3k, the HDi never seems to build to anything much and at 3k it's a pancake

im confused by this, its a 2004 yes but the side of the dash is grey it should be black. And then the middle bits of the dash are painted silver, but yet there is no climate control so its a crap spec d9 Something fishy is going on over in the passenger footwell, where is the bsi kept in left hand drive 406s.
Even viewing this in black and white i dont think the panels are the same colour, and the bonnet doesnt close. But at least he owns another 406 so he must know what to do.

it makes you think if thats the panels that have been replaced how bad was the accident, this thing could be as twisted as a telephone cable

its just all bent upwards itl need a new slam pannel and bonnet and maybe more id sugest swan vesta
the peugeots carnt handle a mild front end- bump they always bend upwards theres no strength in them,
the Ncap results - videos on the You tube says it all,
