Renault modified the ES9 J4S lump to get more than 230HP out of it (more than 255HP in later versions) - they're very similar engines, but not a direct swap.

and now renault uses datsun v6s.
but the most poweful v6 was the venturi it had over 300hp from 2 turbos.
but perhaps a v6 needs to be a bit lazy, a bit detuned to sound better. My uncles voyager sounded great and had something like 150bhp out of 3.3litres

150HP from 3.3 litres?

Jeez, that thing must have been an ultra-thirsty petrol-powered noise machine, with self-propelling capabilities merely there as an afterthought.

Noise from an engine is a good, good thing in my book - but if it's not producing much power, then that tells me the engine is very inefficient.

the old rover v8 was well old, so you couldnt expect too much, although despite that my cousin had a 1600 toyota twincam in a celica gt with carbs and it was supposed to be round that amount of power. But then the big v8 has a lot more torque, and is essentially detuned, rover v8s can be tuned for huge amounts of power.

ok it seems i was wrong about the chrysler.
3301cc, v6, 12 valves, fuel injected.
that got it 156bhp, and 203lbs/ft
a hdi 110 has 188lbs/ft for comparison purposes

and the chrysler
16.3 urban
30.4 extra urban
23.2 combined
Realistically below 20 most of the time.

where does all the power, and torque go? But would it be possible to remove a range rover engine and use a subaru imprezza engine instead since its in theory more powerful.

A modern V6 should have 24 valves, not 12 - though the torque on the Chrysler lump seems pretty decent. I can't imagine it making for a very fast car, but it would at least pull a caravan pretty well. It's a shame you'd have to sell the caravan before you got to the caravan site in order to pay for the petrol.

i remember when he first got the chrysler, the fastest car we had about the place was my grampas zx d turbo, the chrysler was much much faster, and sounded fantastic.
It was on LPG.
But as for torque, a remapped 110 would beat it, a 2.2 hdi would just blow it away. And the rule of big engine with low power output means good reliability. It ate a gearbox, and the head gasket went.

his new previa is much better.
2.4 4cyl, 16v, 154bhp, although torque is just 166lbs/ft (a bit low on torque) fuel consumption is about 25mpg at the worst of times, but eekes out 35 at times, plus on lpg its a 50mpg 7 seater. The zafira cant do that. Or at least it cant hold 7 people in comfort, it cant actually hold one person in comfort.

anyhow back to the bargains here is a nice cheap audi:

one from before they were owned by audi drivers, fantastic looking estate.

I see your Audi and raise you this 1998 Rover 600 1.8 saloon. 6 months tax, 12 months MOT remaining. Nice interior, exterior nothing special. The price, however, is an astonishing £75 or nearest offer! Dare someone to go there and bid him £50 :cheesy:

Well I sold mine.
Trying to get somebody to properly fix the engine mount and trying to source new a door to replace the rusty one ended in disaster.
Getting a tyre replaced and finding they all needed replaced and they were going to be "an oddball size" was the last straw. Cut my losses and sold her.
On the lookout for an automatic now.

Idly browsing the used cars ni, I saw a D8.5 :

My theory is that the front wing is D8 :)

Well, looky here. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2003-PEUGEOT-406- ... 2c5b2fb97d

Another 2.2 estate that won't make a decent price - an epic piece of poor advertising, IMHO

Particle filter light will put most people off, but it can be sorted for next to nothing and its a 53 plate SE with 119K. 8)
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

thats quite cheap, im watching it. Although the leather is a bit tired looking, and the dash looks a bit too shiny. Seems like a good car.

In all the XUD or HDI debates it seems to always compare the 1.9 to the 2.0 what about the 2.1 and the 2.2 what was the best.
