(I liked them too, preferred the Alpine hatch version but both were much underrated cars screwed up by Talbot)

Anyway, you lot had some really terrible cars. Here's my little list:

1. Got my license in 1998 - F reg Ford Fiesta 1.1L mk3 - got nicked
2. 3 years of no car due to uni but drove my dad's H reg 405 1.6L GLX.. one of the most comfy cars I've been in. Loved it
3. 2002 - Time sharing my mother's S reg Renault Clio 1.9D mk2 - didn't really like it. Too small and slow.. and electrics broke down all the time
4. 2003 - My current S reg 406 2.1 TD LX but extensively modified to cross LX/GLX/Exec spec 8) So far the greatest and the most reliable car I've owned
5. 2008 - Taking delivery of 54 reg Accord 2.2L CDTi exec tomorrow. Let's hope it's as good as the '6.

Image
2003 - 2008: 1998 Peugeot 406 2.1 TD 110bhp LX Saloon
2008 - 2009: 2004 Honda Accord 2.2 CDTI 136bhp Executive Saloon
2009 - 2013: 2002 Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 110bhp Executive Saloon
2013 - 2021: 2007 Peugeot 407 2.2 HDI 170bhp Executive Saloon (mapped to 213bhp )
2021 - ????: 2016 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 180bhp Titanium

The first smiley is what i felt about it, the second is the reliability and driveability

1993 Nissan Micra 1.0l - Clipped it off another car and turned it over  :|

2000 Seat Ibiza 1.0l - Horrible Horrible Car, No soul no auto emocion :|

1992 Ford Escort 1.3 RS lookalike - looked good, handled well, slower than an iceberg 8)

1995 Toyota Starlet 1.3i - 0-60 in under 8 secs, it defied logic, poor handling though, it was on ice skates for tires

2000 Peugeot 406 (ever heard of them?) Lx HDi 90 - Lovely spec, let down by bubbling paint on bonnet and bumper, tappet trouble in the engine ( it got really noisy when in turbo) Overall good car but not as good as a 406 can be. 8) :)

2000 Peugeot 406 Lx HDi 90 - As of today i finished the conversion and made this into my new car. I swapped from the above 406; Seats, Doorhandles ( pain in the a**e), radio, wheels, the chrome surrounds and the display. This car has been owned by my dad for 5 years and serviced every 5k. Excellent, excellent car and I love the colour (Jade Green) 8) :) :) :) :) :) :)
2000 D9 Coupé 2.0 SE EW10J4 Scarlet Red - 5 litres of oil gone in 500 miles!!! Time for a new coupe me thinks

'97 Renault Laguna 1.8 RT Sport (sh*t car but *extremely* comfortable and looked sweet)
'03 Golf TDi (work car, very nice engine, crap build quality)
'97 Peugeot 406 Exec Turbo Estate (*sob*)
'98 Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 Saloon

Think my future line-up's going to be something like:
'98 Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 Estate/Coupe
'98 Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 Estate/Coupe
'98 Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 Estate/Coupe
'?? Peugeot 407 with a big engine and all the toys

Disposable cars - gotta love 'em ;) I think I'll be buying D8s until I can get a 407 for under a grand
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

That's an ancient Škoda 1000 I'm afraid, still totally awful. They also made Fiats in Serbija under the Zastava and Yugo badges and there's still loads of Zastava-badged Fiat 500s ("fićo" - fig) floating about. Btw zastava means "flag" (probably something similar in Russian), I suppose "toaletni papir" would have been too obvious.

Btw My other half's mum say "zaporozhec" means something like a horse-drawn cart (zaprega in Hrvatski), is there any truth in this or is the dribbling senility talking again?

Yes, we had rebadged Fiat 500's as well. Their doors opened the wrong way and the engine was at the back - it's the one in Goldeneye that gets started by the sledgehammer, actually! Zastava doesn't really mean anything, certainly not flag anyway 8)

Well, it was just a guess as there's lots of similarities (there are to me anyway  ).

Apart from the bluddy alphabet...

Btw, Zaporozhec doesn't mean anything, it's a city/province in Ukraine where the car was made :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaporozhets . Zaprega is similar to the Russian word zapryazhka, which basically means a strap or a belt. Maybe it relates to horses being strapped to the carts :?

It's all Slavic anyway, so there will be lots of similarities. 8)

That was another definition but her carriage one seemed appropriate.

Actually, it wasn't 'til I got here I found out "mir" means peace, I can imagine why "Those damn Ruskies have named their space station "Peace"". "We better not tell anyone, they might figure out they're not as bad as we keep telling them and cut our defense spending."
