Well, I've just put the dump trip bargain basement 406 for it's MOT - it passed again for the 5th year in a row but Sven the MOT guy has whispered in my ear that it won't pass next year due to rust on the rear subframe, arms, pretty much everywhere.
I paid £150 for the car about 5 years ago and it's reliable as clockwork, but I only do around 500 miles a year nowadays as I walk to work, and I still have the Volvo.
I was wondering which one of the two cars to part with but it's decision made - I have just one year left to further abuse the 406 before either parting it out or scrapping it.
Looks like I'll be without a 406 for the first time in about 12 or 13 years which is a shame as I still believe it's the greatest allw rounder Peugeot ever made ( the 306 and 405 are also gems though.. )
I'll let you all know this time next year regarding parts or whatever.

The end of an era AH well, 5 years of trouble free motoring for 150 quid is bloody amazing, something you'll be very lucky to get with anything more modern.
Crikey, do you even need a car? Tax & insurance doesn't care how many miles you do but would pay for quite a few cab rides

Re: The countdown has begun...
Well, I certainly don't need 2 cars...
My insurance, tax and MOT ( all passed so far ) is around £400 per year, so for just over £1 per day I can haz a car for literally abusing, dump trips, trampolines on the roof - that sort of thing, while keeping the Volvo as a car for best.
