Suddenly a deer...(pictures)

So a month ago... a deer...

Was a lovely day on 21 of May... Drove around 750km from one end of Estonia to the other and back.




When driving back to Tallinn 95ish kmh a deer came to say hello
For a millisecond stumped on the brakes and then thought...s**t happens, let go of the brake.
Deer went under the car. No harm done to my partner nor my 2 kids in the car. The lion won that round ;D






Bastard broke a fog light, engine and ac radiators, lower bumper grill, both headlight mounting points, the bumper itself and cooling fan and its frame, headlight washers also...
Used epoxy on the fan blade and frame and zip-ties for the bumper and just in case for the headlights... need new ones before December... MOT time...
Took frontend apart and got all the loose stuff out.



Both radiators where bent like bananas. Had to redneck the ac rad to get a new engine rad to fit






Drove a day w\o front bumper


Fixed...for now



Fitted 5W bulbs in the rear fog lights. IMO looks cool



Anyway
Drives good, no AC tho... Got to find moneys for that and also filling...

That thing was so mangled up that lost my appetite, also I'm such a city boy that roadkill isn't my thing

It's the obvious question I guess (damn, I think like other people ) I'll bet our dogs wouldn't have minded...

I still think you were lucky, when I worked for BT one of my colleagues hit a muntjack (tiny deer, size of a small dog) with his XR2 and it did considerably more damage.

Your car took a fair biff on the nose there, looks like your getting there with the repairs. The insurance company would have written the car off I guess.

The rear fog light mod is very impressive!

We managed to do what top gear couldn't and wrote off a hilux on a red deer.....

My Coupe was used (by its previous owners) to write off a perfectly good badger.

At 60 MPH.

Similar levels of damage were inflicted as in your case; the car was given a new front bumper, radiators, fans, piping, and I think even the sump took a knock and was repaired or replaced.

Worryingly, I think this was also the incident which resulted in the crack in the fuel rail, which some enterprising "mechanic" glued back together... This "repair" later failed and caused fuel to dribble down the intake manifold (thank god the fuel rail is over the intake and not over the exhaust side of the engine!). So I had to get a new fuel rail fitted too.
