Like I said, check out the prices on some thing like carparts 4 less. Something dosen't add up here. Mine is now £119.94 brand new with the flexi. £105 to £203 for a petrol one.
Mind you, wouldn't be the first time I've seen something on ebay for more than the new price.

Absolutely...... Surprising really!
Unless it's a case of the older ones are worth more than new?

It's the materials in the genuine ones that make them worth more, aftermarket cats don't have anything like the content of precious metals that OEM ones have. The chap that bought the one I had only dealt in cat's so he must have known what he was buying/paying.
Have a look at this site and it'll give you an idea of what there worth http://www.blackcatalyst.eu/katalizatory_offer.php

The cats I took into the yard where off Citroens,
Genuine ones..
Also one off a Toyota..
As soon as I took them in he put them in a machine which chopped the pipe off
as he started chopping at it you couid see bits of the cat falling out..

He didn't give me a price until he printed out an invoice..
They don't pay cash it goes straight into your bank via card
He also took the reg of my car and took a photo of it / still. Off the CCTV camera..

I also took a cylinder head and a pug t/u block in
I got a lot more cash for them compared to the cats..

As isaid earlier those who are stealing cats are more than likely smack heads..
There's no serious money in cats.. as far as I can see most places wouidnt even touch them.. :?
I only weighed the cats in to see what they're worth, inormaly just give them to the local scrap lad
In future he will get them,

If the Citroen cats you weighed in were anything like the PSA cat's in the link I posted and had the same K numbers stamped on them they have ripped you off big time. :?

Yeah your right mate,
Icouid of been ripped off abit.. idont think scrap dealers give full value anyway.. finders fee sort of thing .. :?

Maybe its only a certain cat that's worth good money..

One of the cats had. PSA in raised pressed letters and er-gan or something pressed on it
The others where rusty things so nothing clear on it..

The 'proper' CAT thieves don't weigh them in at the local scrappy, too risky and not enough money, rather they are part of an organised gang moving around the country to avoid being detected.

As far as I understand the CAT's get sent abroad for recycling. The money is made when recovering the precious metals in less-than satisfactory ways, putting the health of the dismantler at risk and all very under-hand (again as far as I can tell). If you've got a demand for these and you can supply a healthy quantity of CATs then the money is there for sure.

The internals of the cat are quite nasty in terms of health risk.

Smash the ceramic content - make sure you don't inhale the dust, as it usually a combination of pollutant and fine particulate.

As for the price of them here - $200 fitted. Around 140 quid.
