Is the Vectra a DTi? If so, can you offer any pearls of wisdom regarding the engine? Specifically I'm interested in this common fuel pump issue & if there are any measures that can be taken to ensure the lowest chance of it causing problems.

ive looked it to that and to be honest by the looks of things its just a case of regular servicing ive had mine since december its done 142 k ive put k&n panel filter onit straight through exhaust and i drive it hard 90% of the time and there isnt a issue it runs like a 50 k car its just a case of keeping it serviced and dont remap it coz its the fuel pump that gets fiddled with not the ecu so puttining more strain on it ent gonna help at all and run it on diesel not anything else and i dont think u would have a problem to be honest i no 4 ppl with the 2.0 dti and there all around the 100 k marks ones nearly 200k and they all run sweet so its more pot luck if anything but i no when they do go it can get costly id reccomend one any day of the week im more worried bout the clutch going been a dual mass at 475 on trade i only paid 700 for the car lol but aslong as u find one with decent milliage that runs as it should and has been looked after i think ull have many years of motoring with it u could always go for the cdti 120 witch doesnt come witht the nasty swirl valve problem and all the others the 150 comes with just make sure u blank the egr cvoz there a constant problem hope that helps www.vecrtac.com go on there its bit of a clicky forum but plenty of info on there

Reckon I might go to 6 monthly service (rather than annual) to be safe then. Was going to look into remaps, but it seems not that many places do the DTis. TDi Tuning do a tuning box for it, but not too sure about those either. Think they're a bit more old school diesel than everthing else that age.

A CDTi version would be too new & too expensive for what I usually spend on a car anyway, so I won't have to worry about their various issues.

Hey
Good to hear from you, and that you're still happy with the Vecta. Was in a colleague's 55 plate (1.8 petrol) the other day and pleasantly surprised...

dont use tunning boxes ive heard alot a sh*t bout them making cars run sh*t but on the other hand heard they work i wouldnt risk using them on mine anyway and i no couple ppl that will remap them but i dont wanna ruin my luck it runs fine as it is there is a couple mods u can do to get it a little quicker inside the air box at the bottom theres a pipe the runs in to i u can pull the top of that it allows more air to run in and a k&n pannel filter check or change all the boost pipes a vac pipes i done a couple mine cox they start crackin and with doing all that it pulls better throught the gears nice and a straight through exhaust
