COM 2000
The one in my 406 is slowly giving up! I do have another from a same age 406 but the breaker who removed it broke the airbag plug and sent me the unit with out the centre section, so can I use the centre section from mine or can I use a com 2000 unit from another Peugeot, say one from a 307 or 206?

Re: COM 2000
He broke the com2000 but still sent it to you? What a monkey
It depends which make they both are, I'm guessing the one you have on the car is a DAV, so if the broken one is then perhaps you're in with a chance. I'd still be tempted to send it back and tell him to shove it
What's actually missing? When you say centre section I guess it must be missing the clock spring 'cos I don't think he sent you just the stalks. I don't think it's much use without the clock spring. What you might have to do is dismantle them both and replace the stalk but this isn't going to be fun. You may as well just dismantle yours and stretch the spring.
It'll be tricky using one from another model as there are dozens of types made by 3 manufacturers.

Re: COM 2000
Because he broke it he let me have it for free and said I may be able to use it for parts! It is the spin section from the middle that I can only assume holds the wiring for the airbag and horn? All that's in the centre is what looks like a white foam ring! It's also a DAV COM 2000. The stalk feels nice not like the one that's on the car now, but on a scale of one to ten, ten being hard, how easy would it be to change parts over?

Ah free, my favourite price
I'd say 1 for me because I've had my old DAV to pieces many times, the hardest part was working out how to deal with the clock spring & releasing all the clips at the same time. For you, I dunno because it depends on your experience of taking stuff like this to bits, but I doubt it'll be beyond your capabilities. You could start with the broken one (I presume you found my thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7635&hilit=inside+c ... +to#p75152 ) and see how you get on with it, bearing in mind none of it matters apart from the stalk.
Btw if the one on your car isn't a DAV it'll be impossible, but I'm pretty sure it will be.
