I'm never changing my oil ever again.

After restling with the undertray (took it off for a good nose around) then having to drill out and fabricate some new fixings because the fixing points were split or rusty.

I then mashed up by hand badly as the puggy dealer who fitted my last oil filter thought he'd have a laugh and murdered the filter up real tight (thanks).

I also noticed my rear engine mount is completely detached at the 3 rubber cushions inside the main bush so god knows how that's hanging in there.

I had the car up on 2 trolley jacks on the sills (someone at work had lost the axle stands).

Whilst draining, the 4.5 ltrs of old oil plus 400ml of Forte flush for some reason would not fit in my 4 ltr butchered oil bottle (you know the sort) panic set in as the oil rose relentlessly as I quickly grabbed a container of Mrs Weltons, emptied its contents (girly hair stuff) and swapped it over into the stream of black stuff.

Luckily I had cardboard down but the spillage was nothing short of a mini Oil Tanker disaster, many many cloths were engaged in the mopping up excersize and I hadn't even got the new stuff in yet.

Well as I said, next time, someone else can change my oil I will have no problem paying someone to do it. If you've got the thing up on ramps it would be a lot easier and you could leave the tray in place.

I must say though that the Forte oil flush has left my new Silkolene engine oil absolutley clean

lol A m8 done mine a few weeks ago, took fooking ages and alot of swearing to get the Oil Filter off. Dunno how Peugeot put em on but fook me it was tight. The same m8 just changed his Oil Filter on his 205 which he done a year ago and it came straight off with just the use of his hands. Peugeot Maindealers must use the strap to tighten the bloody thing. I put in Magnatex GTD 10w40 Oil. Its running much quieter and smoother, feels even faster as I'm wheel spinning in 2nd gear in the dry.

The filter was flippin tight, the rubber seal on the new filter is so thick that it takes a good few turns to squash it up, I fitted the filter with a nice drop of oil on the seal, I only really nipped it up by hand and when I checked it later it was stuck solid

I backed it off a bit and found a 'happy point' where it was tight but not too tight, I never had this on Jap filters, they have an O ring intstead of a great big rubber ring .

A relative of mine bought a brand new Audi TT a few years back and decided to drop the oil himself inbetween the first Audi service (good idea he thought). The filter was stuck solid neither a chain or a strap would shift it so he had to result to desperate measures and stab a screwdriver through it, luckily it worked, but the car was only 6 months old with a screwdriver stabbed through the filter, it took him 4 hours, he said never again.

I used to dread doing an oil change on my 406 while I had it. Thankfully now the coupe has 12,000 intervals, instead of the 6,000 on my 2.1. Althought for about a year, I left the engine guard off the car. Same as you also, my bolts were all knackered, well 3 out of 4.

The bolts that hold the tray are crap, they have like a square pad on the back that turns and the whole lot goes crusty, really bad idea.

My undertray, although very secure now is only there thanks to some holes I drilled and some tie wraps

I found my HDi to be a breeze to service, the exception being the fuel filter cannister which required removal and sticking in a vice before it could be persuaded to open.

How do you think mine is held up at the rear.....lol

The under tray mounting points are only any good if you cover them in high-melting point grease or similar from new then you tend not to have problems later... I didnt have my car from new so I had problems...lol

Welts, your always struggling mate.....lol are you sure you couldn't get the oil filter off from the top ?
