I am looking to replace the factory fit JBL amp with an aftermarket one and retaining the head unit. As all of the wiring is already in place, I would like to reutilise these rather than running my own ones (except the power cable).
Also, I don't want to butcher the existing wiring but simply plug my own amp into the existing harness at the back of the car. I know there's loads of "standard" ISO block connectors for the head unit side available but does anyone know where I can get the block connectors that can plug into the block connectors at the back of the car. There's 2, one for speakers and the other for the pre-amp outputs from the headunit + the signalling cable to turn the amp on.
Failing that, I could always splice into the existing wiring, but I would like it a little tidier
You won't find one because as far as I'm aware it's PSA proprietary and therefore not an ISO connector. The term "ISO connector" is thrown around way too much, with it being referred to almost any connector in a car, which is wrong. ISO is an international standards organisation - see http://www.iso.org. Anything else is just "a connector"
Best to chop the connectors off and put on your own connectors. When I yank the amp from mine I'll probably chop the connectors and crimp everything in bullet connectors which I'll take to whatever the amp/xover wants (RCA, forks, etc)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
