ipod connection

I have an x reg rapier with the factory cd player, and i want to connect my ipod, but i don't want to pay mega bucks for a cable, i just want the cable to plug into the back of the stereo and have a 3.5mm phono plug on it, but on ebay all the sellers tell me there cables will not work, can anyone advise me on this
