Sony MEX-BT5000 with Connects2 cable install

Post by nutski »

Hi all, fitted a Sony MEX-BT5000 on saturday, all went fine with the adapter supplied by Sony apart from it keeps playing for a few mins when you turn ignition off.
My Connects2 CTDPGS002 arrived today, is an adapter for the stalk and the display which i have seen mentioned several times although no one seemed to have tried it, pulled head unit out and connected instead of the Sony cable, also has a small interface box, this i guess is what does all the fun stuff. The white and black connectors from original head unit go into the block on the cable, then you have a cable for the Sony cd changer input and also one for the Sony RM stalk controls, all this goes into one lead into the control box. The control box also has a pass through for a Sony cd changer.

Plugged all back in and squeezed back into the facia (not quite, will do it properly later), steering wheel controls only half worked, vol down worked, prev track was vol up etc.
In the headunit options there is an option to for stalk controls, either normal or reverse, set this to reverse and everything worked (in reverse obviously), set it back to normal and now all is fine! (To be honest, the instructions did say about resetting the head unit after installing cable and i didn't do this, it may be why)

MFD also shows normal radio information, when playing CDs it shows 'T3 CD' etc, nothing major really, haven't tried any bluetooth stuff to see what this displays yet.

Thought i would post this up to show there is a cable that does do the stalk and the display, will point out the cable CTDPGS002 is for non multiplexed D9, the code for multiplexed is CTDPGS003

Edit: Forgot to say, with this adapter the headunit now turns off immediately with the ignition!

Thanks nutski. Good to know this.

Would be nice if it did but unfortunately not, still have my Kenwood KOS-A200 installed through for most mp3s, shows the track info from this on the display still, main bonus for me is just the volume changing as the volume knob on the head unit is so fiddley, its easy to change tracks at the same time if you're not gentle with it

Resurrecting an old thread but i am about to obtain a Sony XPLOD CDX-DAB6650 for the DAB (love absolute and Radio 5,6 etc and the hiss from AM is awful).
I have a 2000 w plated 406 D9 Hdi, you mentioned about multiplexed i am a little confused what that is and how to tell.
