Sony Head unit into a X (sep 2000) 406 HDI 110

Post by ijmorrison »

Right I am going for my idiot of the year award here ....but in my defense i have only had the pug for 6 days ...lol

I am looking at replacing the clarion unit in the dash with my Sony MEX-BT5000 (http://www.sony.co.uk/product/ica-cd-tu ... nicalSpecs) with an aim to getting the dash display and the stick to work !

From reading the forums i believe my pug is a D9 .. so if i buy the following will I be onto a winner ...or sobbing quietly to drown out the hiss of the clarion unit ....??

CTDPGS003 : http://www.connects2.com/c2search.aspx? ... &modID=577 (this is the one for the fully multiplexed system)
CT24PE04 : http://www.connects2.com/c2search.aspx? ... &modID=577 (or possibly a cheapo off ebay  )

Any advice would be most appreciated !!!

Thanks

Iain

ps : seeing as I have no cd changer nor sat nav that i can find but I do have a very long lead in the glove box with a multiplug on, do i assume that it may not be a coincidence ?? :supafrisk:

good choice of unit i fitted one into an 06 clio about 4 months ago and had to play with it to get it working properly

only downside is if i remember correctly it doesn't have the ability to output the display we used a similar conection from connects2 for the renault and although the stalk control worked the display didn't
then again it was a renault so it could have been that tbh the customer was ok when we told him he had stalk but no display
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!!!!

Well I am still waiting for a definite answer from connects2 for the right part number of the unit .. sigh ...

In the meantime I hooked the sony in using the standard iso adapter supplied by sony .. and the outcome is interesting ! lol

Had to swap the main feed and backup feeds (live side) over so it stored settings .. now it just runs on for about 60 - 90 secs after removing the key from the ignition ...

The other trick it does is as soon as you blip the car to unlock it or lock it it starts the stereo :supafrisk: great for freaking people out .. myself included !

Will update as things change ( I hope they do ....)

Yea i found my Pioneer head unit plays when the car is unlocked, also keeps on playing for a minute or so after locking it too.
