Mine does this randomly. When I turn the head unit on, I get all the correct graphics up on the mfd, the volume will ramp up and down etc etc, but no sound.
I just do what all good bodgers do and switch it off and on again. That cures it. Till the next time.......

Does it have a changer in the boot and is this damp?

I'm sure we've had someone on here with this before... :?

Aye,

The changer is in the boot and I am sure there is moisture about due to rear windows misting up all the time!

I seem to remember that they cause all sorts of problems if they get wet, probably because they're MUX but I'm not sure how much this applies to your semi-mux car - try unplugging the lead?
