JBL or no JBL on an SE

Post by blzeebub »

Morning All,

Ive got a 53 plate 2.2HDi SE and im looking to change the HU and im trying to work out if ive got a JBL amp or not. Its an RM2 with a CD Changer and Sat Nav and as far as i can tell its supposed to be in the boot next to the CD changer or the Sat Nav. I can find them but cant see an amp. Can anyone tell me if its definitely got one or not and if so where it is!?!

Cheers

Nat

Don't quote me on it but i think it was an option on the SE so you might not have it.

ServiceBox might tell you if yours had it.

Also, the JBL amp was only ever fitted along with JBL speakers, I believe - if your speakers aren't JBL, the amp won't be there. The speaker grills on the rear parcel shelf had the JBL logo on them (on the Coupes with "SE" and "Silver & Black" trim, at least; I believe the same was true for the Saloon too).

Thanks all, ill do a check on the speakers first and see what that gives me. It would make life easier if it doesnt have and amp though!

Can any one tell me how to get service box to give you a spec of the car from the VIN?

Cheers

Sign up to http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ (just make out you're an independent garage).

If you don't get anywhere with that approach, PM me your VIN & I'll look it up for you.

Just bend back the carpeting on the right hand side of the boot (remove one or two plastic studs first) and you'll see it (or you won't :( ) this will only take 5 minutes.

Anyhoo, surely the JBL Amplificator will be behind whatever you get in the Van version and on the same side as the proper model?

The Coupe has the JBL amp behind a flap on the left side of the boot, just behind the CD autochanger. It's an unlabelled black ridged box (the ridges, I would assume, dissipate heat more efficiently (a heatsink)). The right side of the boot hosts the sat nav unit (again, hidden behind a flap).

Is this the same way the saloons and estates have their amps (etc) set up? Don't see any logical reason why they'd be set up any differently.

The premium shooting brake has this apparatus secreted behind an access panel on the right, one's CD changer being similarly located on the lefthand side of the vehicle. A gentleman simply does not disturb the upholstery to access this equipment.
