Rotten MW reception

Post by DefTrap »

After my shenanigans last week with my wiring mess, I finally replaced the aerial base which was the intention in the first place - mw reception is still crap, better but crap. Are they 'all like this'? On my old Rover mw reception was aces.

So far I've replaced the aerial base, everything else is stock apart from the Alpine HU.

It's a 2003 90 HDI by the way.

I'm reasonably sure the roof aerial is for FM only - the MW aerial is located inside the stereo itself
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Does the aerial need to be powered up by the way? For an amplified signal? Or is it just a bit of metal flapping in the breeze?

MW is still non-existent, the ariel really does nothing at all for that bandwidth.
Logically it's either the radio/cable connector or the cable itself now that I've replaced the mast base (assuming I didn't buy a bad mast base) ...
