loud pop/bang noise

Post by FarmerPug »

i refitted the original clarion tape back into the car, because the amp and cd player didnt get along.
But now every so often there is a crack noise, like someone is tapping a microphone. I turned down the bass and treble and its gone away.
Any idea what caused it.

I had it once or twice when I first got the car & other, more experienced owners, suggested they 'do that' from time to time.

The dogmobile appears to have 'unlearned' this unseemly conduct, therefore I recommend the following:

1). Avoid listening to Radio 1
2). Avoid music for manic depressives, (Country & Western)
3). Never ever play any rap, hip-hop or R&B.
4). Don't let it get wet
5). Don't turn it on after midnight

Mines been perfect for 2 years now. :cheesy:
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I think someone (Supa?) sussed this one out a long time ago, something to do with dry solder joints on the output transistors?

the wires that had the hi lo converters are just held in with terminal blocks perhaps solder is better, and the amp isnt in the bracket right.
Where are the output transistors.

I found it was a loose connection on the plug going into the head unit. Mine hasn't done it since I last dismantled the dash touch wood!

Yes it's loose at the back a lollypop stick holding it in so I checked for dry solder and used some superglue it's all tight now just waiting for it to dry before testing
