Boot builds

Post by karlosantana »

Come on guys Chavtastic time! Lets see your 406 boot speaker system builds. I dont wanna see any V6 builds, you've already got a V6 you don't nee any more nice sounds  . Interested to see them all for inspiration, I have two 1000w subs arrived from eBay for me, I'm deciding how they're going to go.
Cheers all

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Its not exactly a proper boot build (they cost to much) but still sounds crystal clear and very loud
Alpine 9855R head unit ..
JBL GTO 1004E 4 channel amp Powering 2x JBL GTO1202D subs
JBL GT5 A604E 4 channel amp Powering Planet Audio Big Bang 6x9s and 17cm Components
Boss Audio 3.5 Farad power capacitor

6x9s = http://www.kandmacoustics.co.uk/shop/ca ... od_57.html
17cm components = http://www.kandmacoustics.co.uk/shop/ca ... od_56.html
they cost me a little bit more than that but only £40 more 8)

Autoleads 4 Gauge & 8 Gauge power cables
Stinger Pro 1 Series RCA Leads
all fixed on 3/4 MDF to avoid earth loop problems.

RMS Power about 850w
Music power which we call micky mouse watts about 5000  but we dont go off those watts
RMS is the real watts you should look for in car audio

its called a power capacitor

it stores a large amount of energy (like a battery)

and when the music is playing at full volume (deep bass notes) and the cars battery cant keep up

it supplys current into the power supply .

i dont post much but this one tickles my fancy

my old 406
Image

i have transferred it over to the new one but it all needs setting up again and i need to repaint the green panel

oh the important bits.

2 x 1200W max  so i think thats about 500W RMS

front doors had 6" quad axials and 5 " components with the tweets in the standard location back end was blocked off as theres usually only me in the car and i didnt fancy destroying a set of 6x9s with the vibration form the subs for no reason. sounded fantastic :supafrisk:

had to go a bit more people friendly in this one so the 6"s stay up from with the 5" moving up back with the 6x9 hole being sealed up

what are them subs built into ? they look far back there . what size box is it.

there the GT5 sub 1100watt or 275rms = still a bloody lot :P

you wont destroy a set of 6x9s with the subs. i have a set of expensive 6x9s above my 2 JBL subs .. and there fine .

personally if i was you i would add 6x9s. because components cant hit the same mid range as 6x9s can so its always good having 6x9s in the back
and components in the front..

opps, like i said hardly on here

the subs are built into custom boxes, designed around the figures supplied with the subs. They dont need much to run sweet. im crap at maths so i had someone work it all out properly for me.

if i ever sell this pug i'll advertise the boxes and boot panels on here, not the subs though they are to valuable to me 8)

i know im more than likely wont destroy 6x9s but iv seen alot of cars with a high power setup in the boot and a set of 6x9s on the shelf. to start with they work fine but as soon as the bass kicks in the just distort like mad. iv sealed my holes up so its all air tight on the back shelf now so as i say i now have a set of 5"s in back set for rear infill.

iv managed to get it all set up sounding reeeaaaly nice now, it wont win any spl contests but it kicks really well with some good rock tunes on
